Kristen Creager Anyone else on Dailymile? It's the best way to keep track of your workouts, in my opinion. http://dailymile.com

I miss having a calendar on the wall where I checked things off and saw a month at a time, but the community side of Daily Mile helps keep you inspired.

I'm Casey H., a runner in Knoxville, TN -> add me as a friend!

Casey Holbrook Question for the group: yesterday I did deadlifts and instantly my lower back is sore. I watched my side profile in the mirror (rather than the straight-on view I normally get) and sure enough my back wasn't arched through the whole lift like it should have been. But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't keep it arched without raking the bar across my knees. Anyone else ever encounter this?

The tricks are (1) step in closer to the bar - I step in so far that the bar is almost touching my ankles; and (2) remember you are thrusting with your hips not lifting with your back and arms. Your arms should be locked to the bar and you should thrust forward with your hips as a pivot, like you're, well, having fun with some nice person ;)

What, its how the motion was explained to me, and it made perfect sense after that!

Megan Atkinson: Haha @ "some nice person".

Josh Ploch I am helping to start a church, and also starting an upcoming podcast for church planters. If there is anyone here doing that, that wouldn't mind being interviewed, please let know. The purpose of the show is to talk to folks who are in the process of planting, either soon to launch or recently launched. Much of the information that is out there is from "rock stars" (guys that had 2 million people their first Sunday). I am hoping to reach those folks that are are more in the middle.

That's awesome Josh. Let us know about the Podcast when you get it up and running.

You probably have lots of resources already at your disposal, but you may want to check out http://www.sgmplant.org/ and check back to download any audio that is of interest to you. Our church plans on sending some guys to it, I'm sure it will be good.

All the best!

Josh Ploch: Thanks Casey. I will check it out. I will be sure and let you post the podcast.

It's bad enough when these applications drag in native mode on decent hardware, I can't imagine running them on something like CrossOver.

Jessica Bahr: Yeah I haven't gotten it to run on CrossOver yet.

Casey Holbrook Any one else out there love running but finds the summer heat difficult? What would be a simple run in the cooler months feels like a battle to the death in 100+ degree humid heat.

When I was just out of college, I used to run at night, but have gotten over that since it keeps me up longer. Typically 2pm/3pm is the hottest time of the day so avoid that at all cost!

Stanley Lee: Alternatively, if you can afford gym memberships, would be a smart expense in the fact that they are air-conditioned.

Lee Thompson Running - I don't enjoy it, but I'm hoping to get to the point that I do. I imagine that'll come once I'm somewhat good at it. Any tips on the best way to improve? I alternate workouts between peak, moderate, and easy effort...using a heart rate monitor and switching between running and biking. What's the best way to improve time geared toward a 5k run? Intervals?

Also, for me it's a great time to relax, think, and enjoy the great outdoors! For training, I would go with intervals to improve your speed, and also try to do some long runs so your body is used to going further than the 5K. When you need to do the 5K it will be much easier to go quick.

Alyssa Carter Anyone feel like all they do is work, and work out? I work 8-5 every day, and then typically go to the gym for 2 hours after work. By the time I get home it's usually after 8pm, and then I'm eating dinner right before bed. Sometimes I feel like I'm packing 3 meals with me to work - breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner! Tips on any easily portable, healthy meals?

What really helps me get through the day with enough energy is small meals every two or three hours to keep blood sugar levels steady. My favorite quick meals are oatmeal, Chobani greek yogurt, hard boiled eggs, green tea, and lots of water!

I feel exactly the same way. Is there a way you can break up your exercise throughout your work day? It can help improve your productivity and cut back on the amount of time you spend at the gym in the evening.
