Kelsey Balcaitis PS. Anyone use GoodReads.com? I highly recommend it! It's like a Netflix queue, but for your books.

Tessara Dudley: I love GoodReads, though I'm not on as much as I ought to be...

Natasha Smith: I'm a fan of librarything, too...I've gotten a few review copies of books through the site, which has been a lot of fun!

Carrie Clark: @JenG: Hahaha! That sure sounds like a compliment to me.

Carrie Clark Help! I've been given the awesome assignment of rewriting my job description but have no clue where to start (other than looking at job boards for examples). I'm in the government relations side of my association and want to do more communications work. Anyone have any good resources on writing job descriptions??

91 weeks ago from Association Professionals

Maggie McGary: Do you belong to ASAE? They have a resource section on their website with job descriptions, and also posting a question like this on their ...MoreDo you belong to ASAE? They have a resource section on their website with job descriptions, and also posting a question like this on their listservs usually gets good responses. You can also try yapstar.org--it's free and you might get some good responses over there.

Carrie Clark: Thanks! I've been awful and let my ASAE membership lapse but this seems like a good reason to renew and I'll check out yapstar.org.

Carrie Clark I just finished "The Happiness Project" by Gretchen Rubin. It was a fantastic and quick read! Also quite inspiring for taking control of my own happiness. :)

Any fans of classic movies from the 1930's-1980's?

142 weeks ago from Movie Critics

Meenal Vamburkar: I love old movies! TCM's Summer Under the Stars in August kept me glued to the TV, haha.
Vanessa Alvarado: Naturally, that generation gap leaves too much room to list all the favorites. For classic musicals, "My Fair Lady" wins for witty dialog.

Carrie Clark I'm a Gen Y and really just loved the name of this group. Lol. Although I'm feel that I feel I can relate better to Boomers than GenX

142 weeks ago from GenY/Boomer Boom Boom Room

Tom Guarriello: Just came to me in an inspirational flash! Felt like the right tone for us here. I hear lots of X/Y comm problems. Not uncommon.

Barbara Healy: Carrie, that's probably because we have more in common when it comes to our values. Our values are developed during our adolesence..

Carrie Clark I'm Carrie and new to NoVa after moving up from the Richmond area. Not much of a change geographically, but I enjoy it!

142 weeks ago from NOVA

Bill Gary: Miami is a bit too wild... too easy to get in to trouble. So I made the mature decision and returned to my roots
142 weeks ago
Carrie Clark: Haha fair enough. Although there is plenty of trouble to be found in this area. :P

Becki Howard Next up on my list is Where the Wild Things Are. I love Spike Jonze & I always loved that book so I can't wait to see the finished product!

143 weeks ago from Movie Critics

Carrie Clark: I am so excited for that movie! It was my favorite book growing up and I'm really glad to see that the previews are good :)
Vanessa Alvarado: I'm not sure how they'll stretch the premise for 1.5 hours. I'm worried, predicting another "Cat in the Hat" fiasco. Be afraid.

Vanessa Alvarado Goal: read every "Great Piece of American Literature". Dissect their greatness. Learn. Read, "The Old Man and the Sea" this weekend.

Meghan Deaver: Thank you! I think the trick is to pick interesting books - keeps me motivated to read them.

Roxy Allen Welcome, everyone! Question for all: what are the biggest challenges your associations are facing right now, and how are you handling them

143 weeks ago from Association Professionals

Jesse Trucks: We're dealing with membership. We are working on multiple ways to combat attrition and increase new membership (member drives/more benefits)
Carrie Clark: As usual, our biggest challenge is getting our members engaged in the Public Policy department.
