Hi! I'm a grad student in Business Management and I'm hoping to enter HR (recruiting or learning & development). What do you all think are some key skills that an entry-level applicant can highlight on a resume? Thanks!

There were a handful of issues that another pro could help you with, but it reads very well and the formatting is mostly okay. 114 weeks ago

I liked the format and descriptions, but I had no idea what job you were trying to get and how you were positioning your experience to achieve that. The best resume eliminates the doubt that you're not qualified from the very beginning and that all they have to do is screen you for a personality fit. I suggest getting a job description/advert of a company and position you really want to work for and tailor the language, experience, and formatting to fit that job. Your results will be amazing. Good luck! 114 weeks ago

However, instead of saying how many credits you've completed, just put expected degree date.
I find that you have impressive skills, but it's disorganized, and hard to find. Also, I think you need to really think about your job from a third person's POV. To me "Assisted in day-to-day management of two centers on campus (100+ weekly traffic)" means nothing... what is involved in this day-to-day management? I appreciate your attempt to quantify, but that's about 20 person a day, and without context of what's truly involved in a day-to-day management, 20 person a day doesn't seem that many... Does that mean you have to process a 10-page paperwork for each person, or do you just scan their card and wave them through in 2 seconds? See what I mean?
There's also the issue of credibility. You mentioned that you have published articles... what and where are they published? You don't want to seem like you're stretching. Are you published in a newsletter that you print on your own printer and tape to bathroom stall? That could be totally lame. Or that could be totally awesome if you started it and you really got some recognition for it, and built a community around it. But again, without context, it's hard to understand if that's an achievement, or just puffery. If you have legitimate published articles, list date / publication that they're published.
I'm not sure how your research section is setting you apart. Scour the website nowaday is a very common skill. Those databases are probably irrelevant in corporate setting. Also, I'm not sure database research is relevant to SM.
You're underselling your Twitter connections. Connecting with people on Twitter... that's cool, but unimpressive in this day and age. However, your 800+ follower and 55 lists shows a lot more promise. I would quantify that. 117 weeks ago

It would help to "sell" the qualifications you are describing and help with credibility that Jeannie mentioned. Overall, I like you format, it's clear, easy to read, and shows a good use of space. Good luck! 117 weeks ago

Greeting everyone! I am new to the site and am looking to connect with brazen careerist. I have posted a link to my resume in hopes that you would take a look and give me constructive feedback. I am looking to transition out of education to a non-technical analyst role. Your feedback would be extremely helpful. I mean, as much as you can, focus on making every bullet point and every accomplishment seem as transferable as possible for the new position you want. 117 weeks ago

Right now they read like you took them from underneath each job and pasted them under summary. Maybe you could make them a little less specific and leave out the job reference, and put the bullet points you have now with their jobs. I would love to see the database info with the rest of your human trafficking assistant experience. Or perhaps rename the summary section as "achievements"? Also, you might want to think about removing 2nd place in the paper-writing contest, unless it's directly relevant. You have great experience! 117 weeks ago

Hi! I'm an MA in Management student at Wake Forest University. I'm hoping to go into HR, but I'm toying with the idea of going back to school to study Higher Ed. Admin or Counseling.

I've heard that HR is really "tenure-based" so what is the best way to break in and get entry-level positions? And I see that we have similar backgrounds in Psych., so how important do you think it is to pursue an advanced degree in HR/Org. psych./Labor Relations/etc. as opposed to a business degree?
Thanks! 118 weeks ago

Any House MD fans? Dr. House is one of the most intriguing characters on television, and I'm really enjoying how they are exploring the other characters more in this season (ex. episodes focused on Cuddy & Wilson)

Hi Everyone! I would love to get some feedback on my resume. I'm interested in training/development and maybe working with nonprofits, but I'm applying to whatever entry level HR or management training program I can find.

The first thing I noticed was the visual aspect of your resume. I'm not an expert but it just looked a little busy. Maybe it is what Mehul said regarding text too. Perhaps utilize the tab key. It makes it easier for the eye to read. For example, tab "Equal Opportunity", "Leader Shape", etc. Also, you are missing a period for the Leader Shape section. Hope that helps!!! 118 weeks ago
