I'm starting to realize that I don't need more information on HOW to do something. Instead what I find most useful is information (books, blogs, whatever) that inspires me to do something. Whether it's inspiration to learn a new topic, get in shape or be a better person. The How-to is only applicable at a low level because what works for one person may not work for another. With that said, what have you read or read regularly that inspires you?

There's a lot of talk about how we as a society don't use our time away from work well. We watch too much TV and are not that productive with our time. Many people say that we should be using our time away from work to do projects by ourselves on the side. I love this attitude and wish I could do it, but I don't think it's all that realistic. This attitude ignores the fact that most of us have families, friends and significant others that we need to spend time with. Your thoughts?

Remember when you were in college and you wanted to "change the world?" I did, but soon realized that I can do very little with only 23 years of living. It's a dangerous attitude to come out of college wanting to change the world. In college everything is simplified when you get out you then realize you don't know shit about how the world actually works. And that is the key to changing things: first you need to know how it works. Then you can work on solutions. Thoughts? Am I wrong?

About Me

I blog at EconApps.com about applying economic principles to career, relationship and generally everything in life. My blog develops so many skills I never learned in 17 years of school: creativity, writing, critical thinking, social networking, marketing, interpersonal communication...It is basically the best place for me to organize and make sense of my thoughts. (I actually got my past job because of the work I do blogging)

In college I studied economics. I'm great at aggregating and synthesizing information; I crave organization and need it to be sane and make my ideas happen; I'm a very good researcher; and I love seeing and making connections between seemingly different topics.

I have a background in sales and marketing gained while working with the Seattle web design company consider: open.

I also volunteer with Sustainable Seattle and Seattle Innovators. Both work to make Seattle and the world a more Sustainable place.

If you read nothing more here, know this about my blog: my main goal is to Rethink what we “Already Know.” My degree has taught me that everything is interrelated and that connections can be made everywhere.
