This was the best school I attended in any South American country. You spend all morning one on one with an instructor and then break for lunch and then a field trip to practice what you have learned. Believe me when I tell you I can now play Bingo, Scrabble or Monopoly in Spanish with the best!. Also we learned very practical things at supermarkets, malls and museums. An added bonus is the school was on the trolley line.
One of the reasons I selected the immersion program was for the language experience plus the accommodations and meals were included. It was by far the safest and cheapest method to really experience another country. I was a single woman traveling alone so I always must be wary of that. Most well lit streets are safe at night but as in any large city use caution after dark. Be especially careful of the Parque Carolina after dark. It is fine during daytime but you will be robbed at night if you are in the park. Also use caution when visiting La Vigin del Quito. It is a statue on a hill and can be seen from most of Quito. It is well worth the trip but DO NOT walk up or down the hill. Use a taxi. I had several friends robbed by bandits walking after disregarding the warning from both the guidebook and school.
I also went on a weekend trip to Otovalo. I is a small village maybe an hour away from Quito. The villagers sell handicrafts and they are well made and priced. Prepare to haggle, it is expected.
All in all I loved the whole experience and then went onward to Cuzco Peru for a moth after that. Let me know if I can answer any more questions for you.

Do you guys have any tips, tricks, or tools you use to model new interactive designs before someone programs them?
I do a lot of specing for our web development, and it's mostly photoshop/fireworks/visio, then putting it into a powerpoint with boxes and arrows describing the dynamic elements. Is this how everyone works?
