Jay Neely Went to Pittsfield w/ friends to vacation at a cottage on the lake. Wonderful experience. What's your favorite getaway from the city?

141 weeks ago from Boston

Bruce Blake: Salem Ferry. Ends in October. Best on a warm summer night, but still fun now too--if you like ghosts and goblins.

Timothy Johnson III Hi Boston Brazens! I'm doing some background research on Bean Town, and I was curious: What's the standard of living in Boston/Cambridge? What type of salary range would you need to live comfortably up there? Feedback would be appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Zip car has all sorts of discounts that you can get and it is about $50 per annual fee plus $7-14 per hour for rental. It also depends on what lifestyle you are used to- if you want to live by yourself, then it depends on where you live. Typically 1 BR apartment would go around $1300 or so in a decent area. Obviously if you live downtown, it will be more.

Mike Costello: It all depends on where you are working. I don't feel that Boston is as easy to navigate as NY/NJ but it is much smaller you can walk quite a bit.

Hannah Rose Hello! I am an American who is considering moving to London, either temporarily or permanently. I studied abroad their as an undergraduate and absolutely fell in love with the culture and the city itself. I majored in English as an undergraduate. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I could do that and how I could get a job? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hannah Rose: Thank you, Bruce. I think I will try for option "E."

Bruce Blake: Good. That's by far the best option if you can do it. :-)

Erin Murtagh Anyone know any good tailors in the Boston area?

136 weeks ago from Boston

Brian Wang: Sordillos (Italy) is where I get all my work done. In the basement next to Starbucks on Boylston & Berkeley. (617) 437-7616 Maybe men only.

Erin Murtagh How much extra time do you guys give yourself in the morning to get to work on time if you're taking public transport in Boston?

138 weeks ago from Boston

Erin Murtagh: Bruce, that's pretty much my MO when it comes to commuting.

Bruce Blake: Yes, taking the T does require a certain leap of faith. Perhaps the MBTA could moneteize this by somehow linking it to the lottery? :-)

Stephanie Springer Any biotech/pharma folks out there? I can't be the only one here!

Bruce Blake: No, not me, but I hope you aren't one of those nice folks still scrubbing the Genzyme building from stem to stern...?

Stephanie Springer: Nope, not me... never worked at Genzyme!

Bruce Blake Hi Magnus - Please let me know what luck you have. I'm an American thinking of moving to London in the new year. Suggestions or advice?

Boon Chew: Sounds awesome. I've been to Boston very briefly, but I went to all the dodgy parts. :( Let me know if you have questions about London!

Bruce Blake: Thanks, likwise if you ever decide to come see the "nicer bits" in Boston.

Bruce Blake Which is better: In town or out of town for Labor Day weekend?

143 weeks ago from Boston

Brian Wang: Leave early or suffer through traffic, especially if you're headed to the Cape or the islands, unless you have the luxury of flying.
SarStry: Depends on where you are going? Get to the Cape before the rest of the state does, and you are all set!
