Do you feel you should always be giving 110% effort? Do you feel guilty sometimes because you are taking a break from work, but think that you should actually be doing more work? What if doing less instead of more was actually the key to succeeding instead of failing? What if putting more effort into a project even made you more likely to fail at it? I've spent 20+ in sales and marketing and my motto has always been: Make sure you have 3 strong days out of 5. If you do that - you'll be fine. 37 weeks ago

Your "digital loop" is one of the most destructive influences on your productivity and takes up time you could be using to get real work done or simply doing more of something you love.
It typically looks something like this: check e-mail, check blogs, check twitter.. Wait, maybe some new e-mail came in... check e-mail again and repeat.
I've had success using a single inbox for all of my information sources to break this cycle and get back to work (http://www.brianbrookshire.com/?p=122).

But even these two most basic choices say something about values - or circumstances (many of us have constraints). For example, I believe in the power of community and supporting my local community. So I'll go out of my way or spend a little more with local businesses rather than try to always save with the Big Box retailers and chain services. But bad service - even if it's local - I won't stand for. 47 weeks ago
