It took me only 15 minutes to engineer a Man-in-the-Middle attack, intercepting all the packets someone was exchanging over a public Wi-Fi hotspot, as a demo to a business owner who previously didn't see anything wrong with sending confidential or proprietary information over a public Wi-Fi network.

Penelope Trunk What do you think about changing your last name when you get married? I can't believe people do it, actually. I mean, you have an established track record in the workplace by the time most people get married. Why undermine yourself by telling people to call you another name? I have had so much trouble with my own name changes (people googling the wrong name, for instance) I can't believe people bring this on themselves. the practice strikes me as antiquated.

It had a lot to do with forging my own identity.

In a historical sense, surnames used to be a lot more descriptive of a person, which is why most surnames translate into medieval professions, locations, and traits.

Ryan Paugh I'm the kind of writer who is always looking for a better word to describe what I'm feeling. Maybe that makes me a bad writer, or perhaps I'm just trying too hard. Whatever the reason I find myself using sites like Thesaurus.com a lot to find better words to use and it mostly works to my benefit. Does anyone else find themselves in similar situations when they write? Do you have a go-to source for finding better words to use?

Ryan Paugh Do you ever drink with your boss or business partners? I drank Scotch with Penelope once when we used to work out of Ryan Healy and my crappy apartment. It was hilarious. I don't think that everyone out there could get away with the kind of craziness that we got away with because my one business partner is my fraternity brother and the other one is ... well ... William Bryan Man I had an awesome post to write yesterday. I thought about it yesterday when I was with my friends at a bar/lounge and then when I came home, nothing I totally forgot what I was going to write about. Has this happened to you? Luckily though, we have made advancements in the technological world and don't have to have anything more than our Smartphones. Brigid Slipka Have you changed the topic or scope of your blog? How did you do it? Advice? Did you also change your url? My blog is about fundraising/philanthropy/nonprofits, but I'd like to expand it to allow me to write about all the other things that pop up in my head. The best topic I can think of that encompasses everything I want to write about is "philosophy" or even "living." On the one hand, that feels so broad, but on the other hand, I don't want to limit myself.

Lindsey Donner Something that drives me nuts: when people syndicate a collaborative blog, you only see the name of the blog, and the individual author of that post is not credited. There are two articles featured today with this problem. Development-wise, because Brazen is simply using an RSS feed, I understand there's no way to distinguish author - but for folks who run those blogs & choose to syndicate the feed, perhaps you can include a line at the top with the author name? They deserve it!

Emily Jasper I just finished "Eat Pray Love" because everyone's talking about the movie. I have to say, after all the hype out there, the book wasn't what I expected. I guess it's because I was thrown by the Julia Roberts casting: she's 43 playing a 34 year old. The problems Liz has are ones I'd deal with (young successful woman, trying to deal with how she feels about marriage and kids, plus feeling like a failure by 30). I almost wish I read the book before knowing about the movie. Thoughts?

I was already half-way through the book when the movie/casting was announced so it didn't bother me that much, but it does seem like it adds a different facet to the plot because I do see Julia Roberts as older so her characters will be too. Most of the time now I have to view the movie as totally separate from the book anyway, because they almost never do the books justice. (Completely different, but take Harry Potter for example. I have to think of them not as one based on another, but completely separate or I get angry at how the movies have failed the writing.)

Rebecca Thorman I love when people quote and link to my blog, but I find myself getting frustrated when people take large pieces of my post and include it in their post, even with attribution. I just feel like the blogger is being lazy and can't come up with their own analysis, so they just copy and paste. Instead, I feel like they should say, "go visit this link" instead of reprinting my post into theirs. Am I overreacting? This happens to me often, and I'm getting fairly frustrated. Should I say something?

Cameron Plommer My mom is super depressing about careers... Yesterday she told me that all jobs basically suck and don't expect to like your job. I obviously said that's not true. My belief is that you have to put in a certain amount of effort to have an enjoyable job that fits you. It's easy to not explore yourself enough and build up your skills. But those that do get rewarded with meaningful work. Thoughts?
