About Me

My name is Bo Gowan, and I am Ciena’s social media manager. I am also the primary blogger for Ciena Insights, Ciena’s news blog. I joined Ciena in March 2010 as part of Ciena's acquisition of Nortel's Optical and Carrier Ethernet businesses. I had worked at Nortel since 1996 (through the boom, the bust and everything since then), where I held a variety of roles including being Nortel's social media manager. I am a marketing guy at heart, but during my time in this industry I have learned to understand - even like - the technology side of the business. But trust me you will never see a post from me debating Layer 2 switching vs. Layer 3 routing.
