Betsy Wallace Can anyone recommend a good contact for small business insurance? Do most insurance companies offer this...? Any info would be great, what I've read so far has been a little confusing. Thanks!

He will find the best rates & give you the most personalized service you can ask for. He has helped us when we needed to add business insurance, then when we needed to add Errors and Omission insurance, then when we needed to add clients to our policies. Good luck!

Betsy Wallace When I first read "power couples" I thought of the 80's, career-at-all-costs ambition and the quick and dirty road to divorce. The brazen community is fantastic at "redefining" just about anything, so I'm interested to see where this conversation goes...

I think my struggles come most in the very practical things - both people are exhausted after a long day so no one wants to do the laundry or make dinner. These things are helped by house cleaners, gardeners and take out. But I like to cook! In my case, I work as a program manager for a nonprofit and my husband went back to school for a vet degree after working for a few years. Ambition, yes. Money, not yet...and that makes it hard.

Betsy Wallace We're trying to make this blog better: http://wisconsin3rdsector.wordpress.com/ Goal: Create an online home for people to share ideas/take action/get creative about Wisconsin's third sector (basically nonprofits/social entrepreneurship,etc.). I've seen the "buddy press" application used - maybe a solution? I don't know... Also, maybe we should move to self hosted Wordpress? Open to any and all suggestions. Even the wacky ones. Maybe preferably the wacky ones...

@ Rebecca - thanks, I've done a little preliminary looking at Wordpress MU...

@Isao - Great idea, and again, simple which I love! Funny that you commented on the personal touch. As a naturally fairly private person I thought awhile about that and decided to go for it. I'm always checking out other people's bios...it only seems fair and makes it more interesting! Thanks for the feedback.

Quickly looking at your last five posts, I think you should consider adding in a bit more of a call to action. I know it's a bit cliche, but I think that there's a lot of opportunities for it given the non-profit focus - most of these organizations are already trying to get the reader to do something, so it can't hurt for you to do the same. Examples include which YTVideo readers liked; what other skills would be useful for entry level non-profit jobs; the preferred flexible work options.

Also, I can't seem to find a link to an about page. You can get there manually if you're used to Wordpress (adding "about" at the end of the main URL). Your first time readers might want to know about your experience. And it seems like you two have a ton of it, so flaunt it! It'll also give you a place to clearly define what you want your blog to accomplish.

Rebecca Thorman Here's a great article on "Building a Better Teacher," which talks about the various efforts to not only recruit and retain great teachers, but also to create such a talent base. What do you think - are better teachers the solution to better students? (as opposed to say, more parental involvement, more financing, smaller classes, or improved curriculums)? - http://nyti.ms/c0KsYb

Coming from someone who also facilitates corporate training and works very closely with our director (who is working on her PhD in Edu), we see in the business world that there is a difference between facilitating learning and doing a "presentation" on a topic. (I may have to write a blog on this). My thoughts are: 1) our universities really need to review how they are developing the teachers 2)parental/student involvement is important - but society has to change it's view on edu first 3)more financing wouldn't hurt - you'll only get out what $$ you invest in (business logic) 4)really focus on how students learn that is applicable to that generation - that will determine class size and curriculum improvements...

Betsy Wallace Any nonprofiteers working in Wisconsin? If so, we'd love your help with a new blog about Wisconsin's third sector (to keep it inclusive - not limited to just nonprofits!). We're hoping that this is one small step towards creating a stronger and more innovative nonprofit infrastructure in the state. We'd love this to be a collaborative effort - so any guest posts, ideas, tips, thoughts or suggestions you have would be much appreciated!
