I am the budget and operations manager for the Corporate Affairs Department of the American Cancer Society National Home Office. I also work on volunteer talent development- things like orientations and trainings for the National Board of Directors and online webcasts for the Academy of Past Volunteer Leaders.
I was also logistics/event planning staff for:
• 2006 International Cancer Congress
• 2006 International Conference on Tobacco OR Health
• 2006 Celebration on the Hill, the American Cancer Society’s signature advocacy event attended by more than 10,000 grassroots volunteers
• Annual black-tie Medal of Honor ceremony, the Society’s most prestigious national award given to major philanthropists and cancer advocates
I coordinated, wrote and edited press releases, columns, talking points and e-communications for the Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Finance. I also planned in-district events including the first-ever Local Leaders Round Table, town hall meetings and media events.
Planned and tracked literature distribution in socio-economically and racially diverse urban neighborhoods, coached individuals and groups on door-to-door campaign messaging. Surpassed target vote numbers in precinct; candidate was successfully elected into office.
