“I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, but I knew the woman I wanted to become.”- Diane Von Furstenberg.
Well, ditto. As a young girl in San Francisco, then Boston and later Philadelphia, New York, Nairobi and London, I’d watch these well-heeled women click up and down the sidewalks with purpose and a coffee in hand and I’d wonder, where are they going? And what do they do?
Then I’d wonder, was this awesomeness contagious? Did these women have anything, anything at all, that would help me to discover what I wanted to be in this lifetime? Because I cared, above all else, I cared about what I was going to give back to this world and who I was going to be in it.
So this is the part in my movie where the heroine starts the business/blog/project in a fashionable montage over an up-tempo pop ballad. With Poly Republic, I’m talking to every amazing woman who will take the time to talk with me about their journey, and I’ll share a glimpse into their lives in the most creative ways I can. Because honestly, they’re superheroes in civilian clothing.
Have I found my answers? I’m not sure yet, but I am inspired by the millions of women who have. And these are some of their stories.
