I have worked for 4 years as a consultant in Paris, France, implementing CRM solutions, and then for 4 years as the head of the UK and US subsidiaries of a French business that manufactures luxury equestrian goods.
I had opportunities to develop some qualities of leadership, management and an ability to train sales people efficiently. Setting a clear strategic direction, creating a consistent corporate image and leading by example, I improved the turnover of the US subsidiary by 35% last year and reduced the employee turnover by 38%.
I also secured sponsorship contracts with some equestrian legends, among whom Lucinda Green and Zara Phillips, then Europe and World Champion of Eventing.
These experiences enabled me to have a very hands-on and comprehensive vision of the management of a small business, and a more global, intercultural understanding of the issues raised by a multi-geographic workplace.
Appointed to create the US retail subsidiary of this new (in business since November 2008) overseas company, targeting the high-end equestrian market with highly innovative custom-made products (saddles, bridles, girths, boots, stirrups).
Comprehensive Business Plan (financial, marketing, sales, legal, HR) written and approved by investors.
Project abandoned in October 2009 as headquarters wished to strengthen their position on their initial market before any expansion.
Managing Director of the UK then US retail subsidiary – 15 employees and agents
Day-to-day and strategic management of the US business.
Directly managed finance controlling, HR, Sales and Marketing direction.
Oversaw all financial management and accounting functions (P&L, balance sheet, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliation, cash flow management, inventory management, taxes).
