If it's hardware, then it's something that can be virtualized. If it can be virtualized, it can be monetized and create a cash flow at Internet speeds.

About Me

I'm passionate about working with cost-saving and scalable technologies. Currently, I work at a Mobile Apps company in Los Angeles, California. I am responsible for scaling our apps to support as many people as possible. Our apps are fast.

Work History

  • App Dev + Mktg
  • Lead Software Developer
  • March 2010 to Present
  • I believe in creating the best working conditions for our coders. Great working conditions makes it easy for coders to create great code. I have a deep understanding of the development process and know from experience that a 9 to 5 straight jacket will not lead to great code.

I work on scalability, systems architecture, and coding for the Android. I also manage an international team of coders, while making sure that everybody has the tools they need to succeed. I'm a big fan of TDD.

  • McCann Erickson
  • Tech Lead for Open Source Initiatives
  • December 2008 to Febuary 2010
  • As the team lead for Open Source Initiatives at McCann Erickson, I've taken a predominantly Microsoft environment and added value through Open Source. We have a team that had little or no Open Source experience. Now this team can build websites using PHP, SQL and git. My primary role is to evangelize the speed and benefits of Open Source when used in the right situation as well as being technology agnostic. My secondary roles involve being 24/7 on call for the LAMP servers, doing system administration for these LAMP servers, and tackling the hardest performance issues. I really enjoy working on these scalability issues and have implemented perlbal, memcache and sphinx to increase application performance.
