There is no experience that could be more fascinating and yet intricate than immigration. Having walked that path once, I’ve decided it’s time to share some aspects of my journey, especially since I’ve been lucky to study and work on several continents.
I’ve experienced two extremes of the political and economic systems – capitalism and communism and learned to appreciate optimism and the freedoms not allowed behind the Iron Curtain. I’ve come to realize that a great deal of knowledge could be learned from academia, but the real tricks are taught best by the real world. That’s why I chose consulting field as it provides a dynamic environment where one can learn on a fly, at times without even realizing it. I tend to view consulting as helping others. The best inspiration is to see the results of my hard work and the difference made in the clients’ business world.
Although, the job itself might not be as glamorous as one imagines, it is surrounded by rather interesting aura, particularly when skydiving with your clients.
As for the non-work activities, photography and traveling are my two greatest passions. Exploring the world, taking pictures of some forgotten village in the middle of Amazon and telling the stories… what else can be better?
I believe that life is a grand carnival, an adventure that is created by our own bare-naked hands. As Ayn Rand put it, every man builds his world in his own image. He has the power to choose, but no power to escape the necessity of choice.
