Research organizations that you feel are in line with your values and future goals, and then research the people in that organization. See if you can get a bump from your college's career center. Ask your personal network--never, ever underestimate their importance! Networking is key, but do it wisely!

Hi Ashley,

I enjoyed your post thoroughly about the stereotypes and misconceptions that us older people have towards the younger generations.

Those stereotypes have been used on me when I was in my 20's, or at least I felt the same frustration you feel. I think experience is what you actually experience or learn about, right? I think it is safe to say that todays young people have an opportunity to learn much more faster, and thus experience more at an earlier age. With so much interconnected now, I think this is very true.

The one thing I would like young people to harness and talk about more, is their passion and emotion! I see a passion, and a connectedness (is that a word?) with their surroundings, and the surroundings of others throughout the community that I have never seen in my generation or others. This is a very good thing! I think when people harness this passion, and this urge to do what is right for everyone on the planet, good things will happen for our planet and for the people and resources on the planet.

To all Gen Xers Yers and all others, let's focus more on what is our passion, and less about what pays the bills. If we do what we are passionate about, the bills will be paid eventually. I am just dissapointed in myself, that it has taken me so many years to understand this.

Great post, I hope to read more.

All the best,
Aaron

TOP IDEA: Ashley Nicole Campbell Is it just me or are there now weirdo spammers on brazen writing weird comments on blog posts??

Stanley Lee: There seems to be like it. While the crew would have more problems managing the spam, I think that's a statement of this network's popularity.

Ryan Paugh 1) Charlotte, N.C. 2) Columbus, O.H. 3) Kansas City, M.O. 4) Nashville, T.N. 5) Baltimore, M.D. According to a study done by Combos (you know, the cheese-filled snack) these are the Top 5 manliest cities in America. Some of the criteria included concentration of sports teams and salty snacks sold. Cities lost points for an overabundance of retail shops :) What do you guys think? Is your city really one of the Top 5 manliest? Ladies, any input here???

Amne Hiraiwa I'm working on a new post about recent college graduates finding their first job. Is there evidence of a new-graduate paradox? Employers won't hire you without experience, but you can't get experience without getting hired. Have you experienced this?

If someone has met you beforehand and likes you (blogging and Twitter-ing go along with this), they don't even need to bother with shuffling through a stack of résumés—yours goes to the top. There are tons of professional meet-ups that go on; just keep an eye on Twitter and Facebook and figure out where they are.

Most anthropology and archaeology books to get the full out of it and really understand all the means, you would need a class or at least have taken some, beacuse some anthropologist don't know how to write at all!
Some of my top ones that I loved are this: If you have a place or culture, let me know and I can help pick some out since I have read a lot.
Nisa: The Life and Words of a !Kung Woman
by Marjorie Shostak (Great book, a must and first read for all anthro majors)
Guests of the Sheik: An Ethnography of an Iraqi Village
by Elizabeth Warnock Fernea (older, but still very good, and since the whole war and news will help give some good background on it all)
Warrior Women: An Archaeologist's Search for History's Hidden Heroines by Jeannine Davis-Kimball (good archaeology one, just read it)

In Search of Respect: Selling Crack in El Barrio
by Philippe I. Bourgois (Drugs and New York, a great read and if you like NYC, a must read and easy)

Death Without Weeping: The Violence of Everyday Life in Brazil
by Nancy Scheper-Hughes (note- sad and can be hard to read at times; but she is one of the best writes in anthropology out there)
Hope this helps, most of these also you should be able to get at the library as well.
