Stanley Lee I personally want to blog and discover about the topic about a possibly cliche topic: knowledge is power. Conventionally, power is measured by the amount of material and time wealth, in addition to the level of influence. I think as we head into the information age, knowledge is a new currency of power. What do you think about this? Thanks in advance!

I agree with paulmacp in that knowledge is powerful only when you do something with it. In that sense, it's like a tool. While you can store the tools in the tool shed, they aren't useful until you put them to work. Ha, too lame of an analogy? :)

For example, when you go from seeing yourself as someone who needs to make good grades, then money, then family to someone who is part of a web of people on this planet who needs to make things happen in a good and helpful way, what has really changed? The point of view that you see from. What transformed that? Your self knowledge. More than any other "objective" thing, knowledge has power.

Cameron Plommer I want get feedback on an idea I have I think a lot of high school and college grads are at a real disadvantage when they enter the real world. School ignores so many practical skills and doesn't push students to be remarkable. I'd like to set up some kind of school, workshop or program that gives students the information, resources and motivation to be remarkable people. Which in turn will hopefully lead to better people and employees. Thoughts. Criticism. Business partners???

So unless you happen to be the military, it's not available. However, I'd be happy to synthesize some of my lessons learned, maybe even as a blog post. I'll let you know when it's up.

I don't have a career goal, I have a life goal...” to help as many people as I can accomplish what is important to them”.

I maybe a DBA by trade and IT person for my job. But when people ask me what I do for a living, my response is: “I help people better utilize technology and thus helping them improve the quality of their lives”.

Where am I going with this comment of mine... Have life goals, that your career is in alignment with. If your career is not in alignment with your life, you will never be really good at your job anyway. When your whole life (work, friends, family, hobbies) are in sync and moving in one unified direction, that is when you do extraordinary work and have a profoundly positive effect on the world around you.
