I am passionate about building a numerate and scientifically literate world. I have 2 years of experience developing inquiry-based guest programs and leading the training and professional development for Facilitators at the Museum of Science and Industry Chicago. In additional to working in a museum I have developed curricula for and taught week-long enrichment courses for Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development covering the scientific method and how we can use it to understand modern electronics and simple machines. Because this issue is so important, I'm also interested in all open (open software, resources, ect...) tools and frameworks.
I manage a team of up to 15 Facilitators who implement interpretive tours and inquiry-based programming for guests. Among my duties are:
- Lead a team in developing new, inquiry-based guest programs.
- Develop and implement training and ongoing professional development opportunities for Facilitator Is who lead tours of the iconic Coal Mine exhibit and other inquiry-based programming
- Management duties include: scheduling, payroll, ongoing floor coaching, department administrative duties (including budget management).
I developed and taught curriculum for a week-long, summer enrichment course for 18 talented and gifted students aged 9 and 10. The course was an inquiry-based course titled, 'How Things Work.' Students explored basic electronics, simple machines and processes of invention, design and problem-solving in the context of modern electronic devices
