About Me

I am a Senior Software Engineer with 22+ years of experience in government contracting, mainly with DoD. I have an active Secret clearance, and have worked on a number of full life-cycle, as well as, maintenance software projects. I have managed several teams of engineers. Recently, I have been working with C++ and Java on GUI development and application programming, but I have also written device drivers. Some of my software has flown on NASA's Space Shuttle, some used to train Air Force pilots and Army personnel, and some of the software I have written is guiding vessels in West Coast ports. In addition, I have been actively involved in process improvement throughout my career. I bring to the table the ability to write well -- I have strong documentation skills -- and strong communications skills. I am experienced at presenting and teaching. I have been very fortunate to work on a wide variety of projects and am eager to apply that experience.

In my personal life, I ride and show horses. I own a Trakehner and lease a Clydesdale cross. I plan on completing my Master's degree in Computer Science as soon as possible.

• Served as a Senior Software Engineer for the Modeling and Simulation (M&S) division within AER. Duties and responsibilities in this position supported the development of complex scientific software systems for the DoD M&S community. More specifically, design, develop, test, peer review, validate, and integrate software applications, as well as, provide documentation for the developed software. Responsibilities included both new software development and the adaptation of existing software from internal and external sources. Development primarily was performed in java API 5.0 or 6.0, however on occasion, it also included C and C++.

• Served as a senior software engineer for the Coast Guard Vessel Traffic System (CGVTS) software project for the Coast Guard C2CEN. Responsibilities included providing full life-cycle software engineering solutions to components of the system that required refactoring and decoupling in Java and C++ programming languages; using Trac (web-based software project management and trouble reporting system) to record daily operational code modifications as per the team process. As a version build integrator, served to provide support in the making of segments, installing those segments, and performing the necessary software tests prior to delivery. Provided constant suggestions to the team to define/refine software processes. Participated in re-architecting parts of the software that led to better performance, stability, ease of maintenance, and robustness.
