It's my old news background... hook you in with a headline. In a good way of course! :)
Great point on the celebs and sports writers. I follow Adam Schefter and I love when he says "Filed to ESPN:" He is giving us information that we normally would have had to wait until SportsCenter came on. I think he's a valuable tweeter... especially as a sports fan. He's also a trusted reporter and I believe has added value of those that are less accurate.

We all have people we follow as a guilty pleasure, I think. Rainn Wilson is hilarious. I know I'm not going to get something to add to a proposal, but it may be GREAT around the water cooler.

Thanks for adding your perspective, Patrick. Be well.

It implies that people will drop bad habits easily and we all know that that is not true in the slightest.

Angie Roach I've been pouring over "The Dip" and am finding some great motivation for persevering through my dip. One key piece I've been going back to is that those that are successful don't have more talent, they have laser vision focus and are determined to reach their goals. I'm still having a hard time finding my focus - my light at the end of the tunnel. How did you decide what to be your goal vs. what to quit?

In college I decided I wanted to be an entrepreneur because I wanted to build something from the ground up that could truly make a difference, help people, change the world....all that good stuff.

After college I started a blog and got a lot of attention for my writing. People were asking me to speak, write books, etc. It was pretty cool, and it came out of nowhere, but I knew that even though it was a form of entrepreneurship, it wasn't the kind of entrepreneur I wanted to be. It could have been good money and a lot of fun, but I still wanted to build something great from the ground up. So I decided that what I really wanted was to create Brazen Careerist, all the other speaking, blogging and writing stuff had to take a back seat, or Brazen would never have a chance.

I don't regret it for a second.

Angie Roach After last week's webinar with Seth Godin, I went and picked up "The Dip" and now I'm more confused than ever! I'm struggling is it a dip or a cul-de-sac when you fear that the obstacle you need to overcome to move beyond is changing the mindset of the leadership and influencers that can get you to the next level. My fear that if I don't ever change how they view what is important and give new things a try, my dip will turn into a cul-de-sac....any advice?

Cameron Plommer So I have a slight obsession with being organized and making sure ideas don't escape before I can record them. This is why I develop systems to stay organized. I'm wondering if there is a market for people needing help getting and staying organized. I would like to distill my methods into a white paper or ebook of some sort. I want to create Working Manuals of how to get organized based on what works for me and what I've read from books such as "Making Ideas happen." Thoughts?

I think Americans often look for the easy way. But doing hard things builds character. In fact, a couple of teens, Alex and Brett Harris, started a blog called the Rebelution a few years ago to challenge their generation to "do hard things" as an antedote to the low expectations being placed on teens today. They are making a difference and there are more teens that believe in themselves and are "doing hard things." Check it out at http://www.therebelution.com/blog/.

So really, what do you want to do?, after you have your comforts and necessities taken care of? The sky is the limit...

I think people have gotten good at enjoying the status quo, and are scared of long term hard work to achieve something. Just look at 4 year degree graduation trends in the past X number of years...

Rebecca Thorman When happy hour isn't an option when do you find time to network? When do you network when you have other responsibilities (like kids, seconds jobs, relationships, etc.)? (http://bit.ly/a5QA75) I can't do lunches because it breaks up my day too much, but I think networking once a week or every two weeks is probably enough (maybe even once a month). You don't need to do a happy hour EVERY night.

Rebecca Thorman I just read an article where a new organization called Armchair Revolutionary is limiting donations to 99 cents. The idea is that the web is finally reaching a level of donation scalability that micro-transactions can really add up and that with the popularity of iTunes, the public is now very comfortable with 99ยข transactions. (here's the article if you'd like - http://bit.ly/aDyyIp) I'm pretty skeptical of this as a way for real change, but perhaps it's a foot in the door?

Penelope Trunk Hey you guys. Did anyone listen to the webinar we did last night with PayScale? The guy from PayScale is so cool. He's a physics Phd who studies salary data. Okay. So, anyway, he said that people top out in their salary around age 38 - then their salary plateaus (if they are lucky), wherever they are. I have found this to be true. How do you think people should manage their careers given this information.

Cameron Plommer I have a problem letting go of my thoughts after the work day is over and I should be devoting time to my personal life, mainly my girlfriend. I have such an urge to write and put my thoughts down on paper. Its just hard for me to let it go until the next day. Part of the reason I do this is because I spent a lot of my life not doing anything, not making or producing, only consuming. Consuming information, entertainment, whatever. What do you do to stop for the day and focus on other things

However, I have found that loading my ipod w/ a large amount of music that I love and going for at least a 30min-1 hour walk or run at the end of the day completely refreshes me. I am a full time working Mom who never really 'shuts off' and taking even 30 min to walk and listen to music completely clears my head. I have been amazed at how clear my head gets during this time and all the ideas that come to me. I know it may seem so simple compared to previous comments but I suffer from constant 'overload' on a daily basis and this is something that has kept me grounded.

Ed, that's great! It's so key. Also if you have ever read "The Four Agreements" by Don Jose Luis Ruiz his last agreement is the best:

4. Always Do Your Best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self- judgment, self-abuse and regret.

I think people need to remember this when the day ends.

Ryan Paugh OK. Let me know if anyone has thought of this yet. I came up with this Foursquare event idea with a couple friends yesterday. Wouldn't it be cool to do a Foursquare scavenger hunt? I imagine setting up teams of people and using Foursquare to guide them to different mystery locations around your city. Whichever team is able to check in at all of the mystery locations before the end of the day wins. I'm imagining kegs at each location, but that's just me! Thoughts?
