Andy Huston Are there any plug-ins to help create a user generated blog that any of you know of? I'm thinking something along the lines of mylifeisaverage.com or damnyouautocorrect.com. Thanks in advance!

The only issue is that I think they need to register with the site to make their submission.

The other option would be to look at something like Tumblr. They have some native functionality for taking submissions too.

Michael Funk: Look into Gravity Forms (costs some money), BuddyPress, or Wordpress MU. Also the plugin PodsCMS.

Megan Atkinson How on earth do you all keep up with the blogging, guest blogging, tweeting, and blog reading/commenting... and (if you're like me) this addiction to BC? I feel like I took on a second full-time job and I haven't even posted on my blog in 4 days. What techniques do you use to manage your time with all this?

I find that I now shoot to catch up on my favorite blogs/commenting twice a week, and I also post my own twice a week. it's not as often as I would like, but it seems to allow me to hit the sweet spot of frequency and quality, which always seems to be at odds with each other.

I also use a color coded system which I keep by hand (for some reason, my brain remembers things better when I write them out by hand) ... gorgeous crayola markers and Curious George stickers make it extra fun!

Time these out evenly so you feel like you've posted something just recently.

Tweeting is a whole 'nother thing. Just tweet away any time of the day!

Even with this "mentor service" people are hesitant take advantage of the opportunity. My advice - use existing relationships and be deliberate in asking for advice and support. The successful mentor/mentee relationships that I've seen have been driven by the mentor. Hope this helps Ryan!

A smaller NPO will give you more flexibility and more opportunities to be a part of the decision making process. You can also embrace the challenge of building a smaller organization into something larger.

The smaller organizations will not pay as much as let's say, the Red Cross but you will have more creative control.

Big or small, in the non-profit field it is more important to gravitate toward a cause you genuinely believe in. Non-profit work can be grueling sometimes, and is and should always be a labor of love.

with non profits there is as much networking as in any other career pat, i am sure you will find yourself working at all sorts of organisations throughout your working life!

It is better to find an organization that you feel passionate about. It's hard to work for the SPCA if you don't like animals.

But just like the corporate world, good workers advance because they are good. In small organizations, you're a big fish in a little pond. People will get to know you and you can advance by moving to other organizations. If you're in a big organzation and you are not good at your job, you will not advance.
