Currently, I am a graduate student at Portland State University and will graduate with my Master of Science degree in June, with a specialization in research methods and analysis.
I am focused on continuing my career in research where I am able to apply and increase my quantitative and qualitative skills that I have gained through my graduate education.
I created and implemented a mentor program for incoming graduate students in my program so that they would have peer support for their next step in their academic career. As a lead organizer I maintain that the peer mentor/mentee relationships are staying within standards of the program, as well as plan social events.
I work with professors from the Public Administration Department on writing a grant in order to fund research around the implementation of a Performance Management Information System (PMIS) for the Portland Police Department. I assisted with the literature review and I met with the agency to gain approval and compliance with our project, research design, and grant proposal. I will assist in the conduction of focus groups and data analysis.
I assist professors with the grading in their courses that they were teaching. I grad papers and exams, give productive feedback for future academic work, facilitate midterms, give class evaluations and help with administrative duties that the department needed. Additionally, I assisted a professor with data collection and methodology for a future publication and conference.
Accompany crime victims to grand jury and court hearings, helping to explain the criminal justice process, and to be there for support. Assist stalking victims file for a retraining/stalking order, help them with safety planning and any other type of service they may need. I am part of the Voices Set Free program: I work on clemency cases for women offenders who were domestic violence victims. Assist with any needs the counselors may have with their clients, such as court advocacy or program information. Help victims fill out victim compensation forms.
Helping spread awareness of sexual assault and domestic violence throughout the school and the community by speaking about the event to fellow classmates and students at Portland State University. I am a part of the fundraising committee. I am going to various departments and organizations around Portland State University and asking them if they would like to co-sponsor our event, and I am also helping with bake sales. Helping with advertisement ideas for the event, such as t-shirt design and video production. I am helping with the implementation of a self-defense course to go along with our event.
I became more educated on the topic of domestic violence by reading textbooks and biographies, hearing personal stories from women inmates, and student led group discussions. I became more knowledgeable of the resources that are provided to women and men who suffer from domestic violence and how to access them.

I went through intense child development training. I participated in a program that strives to provide an opportunity for youth to learn more about themselves; to interact cooperatively and successfully with others; and to examine their relationship with the environment. Helped teens build a sense of achievement, higher self-esteem, and develop and strengthen their individual character. Planned field trips and activities so that the children could meet other children who were having the same military experience that they were having, which helped them to feel like they were not going through their experience alone.
Insight Development Group is a program that facilitates a restorative justice dialogue with incarcerated men in Oregon prisons. As a board member I am in charge of volunteers, training and program research development. Additionally, I have served as a facilitator during a ten week program.
