I'm currently unemployed but doing some freelance work for Telient Systems (http://telientsystems.com). My first order of business is to revamp the website (which I warn you is still a work in progress but the website has some good information). I'm a little rusty with all the new social networking sites but brushing up and learning all I can as I'm hoping to change my career.
I want to do something more fulfilling and am currently trying to answer the question "What do I want to be when I grow up?" I know I want to help people which is what draws me to customer service and I love helping people reach their full potential.
After graduating college I took an office job at an Appraisal Management Company thinking I would get some office experience under my belt and then go on to work at an art museum, get my masters in Architecture or start my own business. Obviously plans changed and I soon discovered I had a knack for business and I also enjoyed the fast paced office environment. I enjoyed my job and even received a few promotions into management which I also loved but over the past year I've gotten the itch to take my acquired skills and try something new. My husband and I packed our bags, moved down to Raleigh, NC and are hoping to make a go of it in a warmer climate.
This position was especially interesting and thrilling for me considering I went from managing Mid-westerners to East-coasters (who are all good people, but very different) and I was still a relatively new manager. I managed a team of 16 people including 14 Customer Service Representatives and 2 Team Leads. All in all I learned a lot from the experience and loved the adventure.
This was my first stint in management and I think it proved to be successful. I managed a team of 7 Customer service Representatives and learned how to use Excel to complete reporting for my Supervisor and upper management. I promoted a positive work atmosphere and became an Excel master!
In a meeting with the VP in August of 2009 we were informed that we would be merging with a company outside of Boston. I asked if there would be any opportunities out in Boston and by December I had been promoted to Operations Supervisor and moved out there from Minnesota.
This was my first office job after graduating from college. As a Customer Service Representative I acted as a liaison between our clients and our appraisers. I made sure our clients were always updated and soon became an expert on my team as well as the go-to person for questions and projects which I was always eager to take on.
I didn't get a degree in Graphic Design, I just wanted to learn more about the Graphic Design industry, and specifically focus on learning the Adobe Design Suite. I studied InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator and I'm currently learning Dreamweaver and Flash using Lynda.com and a few books.
At Augsburg I was a member of the Augsburg Student Activities Counsel, an Honors student and a Regents Scholar.
I studied abroad in my Junior year of college at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and even though my classes were wonderful, traveling across Europe was just as educational as my classes.
