I am a Business Analyst & Consultant on the provider side of health care. I've worked with hospitals, multi-specialty groups and private practices to develop cohesive systems that deliver better care. I specialize in Health IT adoption, with a focus towards meaningful use of the EHR.
Currently, I'm working with a variety of specialties in Weill Cornell Medical College to analyze their operations, finances and technology use. My aim is to streamline the entire care delivery process, from front end registration to efficient use of EHR technology to back end billing.
My past projects include managing six primary & specialty practices, financially migrating a physician's organization from an individual to a group contracting model, and conducting an IRB-approved study measuring the financial impact of an EHR in an academic medical center.
• Redesigning physician practices for operational, financial and IT efficiencies ($2M-$4M revenue increase/specialty)
• Developing strategies for optimizing the institutional EHR to ease documentation workflow, ensure compliance, and maximize revenue opportunity
• Proposed, developed and published an IRB-approved study, “Physician productivity and the ambulatory EHR in a large academic multi-specialty physician group”, in the International Journal of Medical Informatics (May 18th, 2010)
• Provide leadership by planning, developing and organizing work flow and business processes throughout all areas of operation within various divisions of UB|MD.
• Manage the day-to-day operations of UB|MD divisions as needed; direct the activities of the support staff as well as clinical staff
• Implement IT systems to increase efficiency in the delivery of patient care including implementation of electronic medical records system
• Develop innovative solutions to enhance business efficiency and investigate technologies, methods and tools to maximize revenue opportunities
• Consolidated all IT-based applications and support for the division (~$200,000 of indirect expenses)
• Served as liaison between Hematology/Oncology clinical services and hospital Information Systems (IS)
• Planned and implemented a web-based inpatient billing report to monitor, reconcile and resolve missing charges (~$100,000 of unaccounted revenue captured)
• Coordinated space design and relocation for research laboratories and offices for 30-50 physicians/staff
• Managed the compiling, processing, and scanning of paper charts into an institutional EMR system (EPIC); put process in place to monitor completeness and quality
