My name is Adam R Sweet. I am a 48 year old musician and music teacher living in South Hadley with my wife and sons. I teach violin, viola, mandolin and guitar. My method is to teach people how to read music with a style that is very similar to the Suzuki method. I am very good at figuring out how people learn best and match my teaching style with their learning style. I teach out of my studio in South Hadley, which is 3 miles to Route 91 via Rte 202, 5 miles to Route 90 via Rte 33 and 14 miles south of UMass via Rte 116.
I was the principal violist of the Five College Symphony Orchestra, the principal violist of the Pioneer Valley Symphony Orchestra, Valley Light Opera and Keene Chamber Orchestra. I've played Bluegrass with Maple Ridge and Swift River; Celtic music with Crackerjack, Woodkerne, Celticado, and Crossing the Pond; New England Contradance Music with Fiddle Hill; and Klezmer with Sweet Klez and Yiddishkeit. I've been all over the world performing music including Germany, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, South Korea, China, and Egypt. I'm the founder of the Sweet Americana Project here in South Hadley.
I have a BA in Music from Hampshire College (1985) and Certificates in Violin, Viola, Performance and Music Education from the New England Conservatory of Music, Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, Westfield State University and Greenfield Community College. I opened my studio in 1986
I teach Violin, Viola, Fiddle, Mandolin and Guitar to all ages and all levels of ability.
