Brett Kunsch Darren Aronofsky's new movie "Black Swan" reminded me that perfectionism KILLS. I touch on lessons learned in my new post: Personal Development from a Crazy Ballerina. http://bit.ly/e5CJIr What do you do to remind yourself that aiming for perfection is a losing game?

Perfectionism alone won't kill, but if you're so focused on being perfect that you don't notice how it's affecting your own health and you don't take care of your OWN needs first, that's when you're going to get in trouble.

Yaseen Rocca Yes indeed, there's probably no specific number of career changes to find the ideal or most suitable one for you; and averages are misleading and in many cases not spiritually helpful. Be aware that it is an unfortunate fact that most people actually go through their whole lives never truly loving or enjoying their jobs. So you have a fair challenge to dedicate time to.

Magen J I am trying to undergo a career change from Medicine into Film/TV. I actually never started my career because I was in graduate school. So I have the problem of not having many jobs on my resume in the first place. The other problem is most of my experience is health/biology related. Any advice to leverage what I do have into opportunities in the Film/TV field would be appreciated. Thoughts, comments, suggestions about the Film/TV field will be appreciated as well.

Nevertheless, I can only speak for actors or actresses: generally actors can come from almost any background, and this actually enriches the industry with much needed expertise in several fields. You can save your production team money on hiring experts to double check any medical facts declared in the scene; you can spot medical mistakes or inconsistencies, and so on.

And if you find yourself a niche, this will speed up the ladder climb upwards. The rest is about highlighting all your strengths, putting together a personal or amateur show reel then posting it on YouTube, increasing your popularity on YouTube, and constantly contacting agencies, sending photos, links to show reels, and subscribing to sites like StarNow.

Emily Jasper Just started using a reusable traveler mug that has the same look as most paper cups. I have been searching forever for ones with good seals (I always seem to break them, then the coffee won't stay inside the mug). After 6 failed mugs, we'll see if this one works. Aside from that, my heart likes the "familiarity" and reminiscence of this mug that looks like paper cups, but my mind tells me that using something obviously anti-papercup can send a better subtle, even subconscious message to all those who see my mug, and yours, and theirs over and over again, if you see what I mean. But if this one's seal is superb, I would succumb to reliability ultimately. :)

Meghan Skiff This is a little random, but there are two minor things that I would love: 1) A spell check for posts...one of those little red underlines 2) When I open a post, it would be great for it to automatically open in a new tab. I always forget to do this manually and have to log back into brazen careerist. These are so minor though, and are by no means causing a serious inconvenience.

Regarding suggestion 2, as normal user like you, I personally wouldn't like any link whatsoever on any page to automatically open in a separate/new tab or window. This is almost reminiscent of "pop-up windows", and we all know how 99% of us hate them. The default behavior of any link, post or not, should be to open in the same window/tab. With that said, you can make specifically posts open in a new tab by holding CTRL while clicking the link in most browsers.

Yaseen Rocca I have a general idea about where you might stand regarding "doing what you love" and "loving what you do" dilemma, Penelope, but I was wondering if Brazen Careerist have an existing network where this subject is discussed by members regularly and in more depth. You know, Duty vs Passion, Opportunity vs Dream, Find What You Love vs Love What You Have. I'd like to hear what others think, hear inspiring stories, etc. So, the quick question: does a network exist? If not, care to name & lead one?

I'll confess, it's not easy. Thanks for the feedback.

Yaseen Rocca Sharing an idea: It would be very useful if the website checks whether there are existing networks with similar names whenever someone tries to create a network. If similar networks are found (using all keywords possible from names & descriptions), then the website shows the networks and gives the user 2 options: 1. Confirm that the network they intend to create has a different purpose or theme, or 2. Join the existing network(s) instead of creating a new one.

124 weeks ago from Brazen Community Feedback

Roxy Allen: I second this. The only way to do this now is to give it a google (aka search) before starting your network, would be helpful.
