I am 18 years old and attend Lindenwood University of St. Charles, MO. Currently, I am pursuing a Print Journalism major and have a passion for writing.
There’s something about words that seem to complete me. It's the fact that they “get” me. Like a white wall that stares blankly back or a gagged hostage unable to speak, it’s a one-sided conversation with yourself. Words are like a good listener, there are several out there but only the rights ones were made to understand you. You can never go wrong with words.
It’s how writing allows whatever time you have to be just enough for the moment but continues to resonate, calling you back while you lie restless and alone with your thoughts at night. It’s the beauty of knowing that what you’re holding is freedom between your fingertips. From the time your pen touches paper, your thoughts are dispersed to either be locked away from all eyes but yours or to be made known to all.
My purpose is to write—not my dream, but my purpose—and to write to make a difference. There are few feelings better than those felt when writing, to express your ideas and thoughts, and know those thoughts are heard. It’s the feeling of comfort, understanding, and relevance that I strive for. And to me, that is true writing.
