Chivalry is respect plus the idea that women need help to do anything. Respect is alive, as it should be. When you need someone to help and open the door for you, sometimes a person will, and sometimes they won't. That shouldn't affect whether or not you treat other people with respect. Insisting that a man must open the door for you is treating him with a lack of respect. Open the door for him--it's common courtesy! And tomorrow, when you need it, he will open the door for you.

Kat Argonza Hey! I've been posting my photographs on my blog at http://www.wayfaring-stranger.com. I've never taken a class on photography - I basically picked up a camera and started clicking away! I was looking for some help and criticism! I'm trying to improve as much as possible before I really start traveling and taking this gig a little seriously. Any criticism or advice on my photography?

You have some good photos, like the last one in the arizona set. I wonder what lens you are using, because I see a lot of close up shots. For landscape, consider using a very wide lens. Also it's important to take photos when the lighting is good, early morning or early sunset. Good luck!

I do a lot of cardio/strength intervals so the amount of time spent on the workout isn't as important as the intensity. I trust how my body is feeling on a certain day and do what feels right - even if it means sleeping in.

Otherwise, I have quasi-programs that I made and follow that work different parts of the body. I usually lift enough to feel it the next day, but don't really over-do it and end up sore for 3-4 days later. ??

Kat Argonza Barefoot running, anyone ever tried it? I bought the Vibram five finger shoe and I've loved it! Shoes that are too cushioned and correct for over/under pronation actually make the stabilizer muscles even weaker. Bigger cushioned shoes also allow for poor running technique - this causes over-striding and heel crashing (landing on our heels instead of the ball of the foot).

Dont have to go crazy on buying expensive footwear - just get a pair that has a thin sole (i like Onitsuka's) and focus on stepping under your hip when you jog.

Kat Argonza What do you guys think of the whole "Fat Acceptance" movement (http://bit.ly/c8i6Jn)? I keep hearing the phrase "Real Women have curves, not the body of a 12 year old boy" and I'll be honest, I'm quite offended. I'm not curvy by any standard, but I doubt that makes me any less of a woman. Anyone else think that "Fat acceptance" is quickly becoming synonymous with "Failure Acceptance"?

At the time I was a size 14. He said that in the business world many people have a sometimes unconscious bias against fat people. I have actually experienced this, but the people who for some reason took issue with me being overweight aren't business focused or moving anywhere up in the company.

I think a lot of people who lead the 'love your curves' and body-acceptance movements (my college had one) are people who spent a lot of time feeling like they weren't good enough because they didn't fit what they perceive are societies view of beauty. Instead of looking at themselves and saying that they are beautiful and so is everyone else they try and take ownership of their differences and view others who fit their view of societies view of beautiful as not. They bash the skinny bitches because they aren't one instead of saying that everyone is beautiful.

Comfort their loved ones, and realize that the ones who wish you had died instead, are expressing almost unbearable pain.

2) Gut it out through all the harassment, ridicule, disrespect and other trauma of being a geek with Asperger Syndrome. You’ll get lots of schadenfreude later.

A combat tour doesn't have any space for anything that doesn't contribute immediately to responding to immediate life or death decisions, dealing with the boredom, inanity, comedy, and every day drek of getting back to the "world" alive and well. In a casual conversation, he asked the chief, "Chief, when are you going to retire?"

Chief looked at him, sipped his coffee, and said, "Never"

The LT replied, "But Chief, you're close to mandatory retirement age!"

Chief took another sip of his coffee, looked at the LT (who was only a few years older than his grandson) with a steely gaze, and said, "General of the Army Omar Nelson Bradley served in this Army for over 67 years, and he wasn't even Airborne!"

That pretty much ended the conversation.

Rebecca Thorman Would you diet for dollars? (http://ow.ly/1SOg8) Many employers are betting they can find your price. At least a third of U.S. companies offer financial incentives, or are planning to introduce them, to get their employees to lose weight or get healthier in other ways. How much money would it take to get you to get healthy/lose some serious weight? $100? $500? (If my company reimbursed personal trainers, I'd be all in)

Kat Argonza Nothing in this world sickens me more than the idea that a woman 'need help from a man'. As a soldier, as an athlete I can tell you that when a time comes when I actually need help from anyone, the last thing I'll care about is gender. Toughen up. The meek don't inherit the earth, the strong do. If women want any form of equality, then they need to believe in equal standards and stop whining for guys to be knights in shining armor. What century is it, again? Ayn Rand would be appalled.
