Last week I blogged about terms that bloggers should know. Now I'll touch on tips for building a successful blog.

  1. Find a niche and stick to it. Most successful blogs focus on a single topic. Some rely on the blogger's unique voice and charismatic personality to unify otherwise unrelated posts, but this is hard to do.

Thanks for these very useful ideas. I've been doing a reading about how to start blogging. I like this list of tips because they are all instantly "actionable".

Great list. I have been bogging for a little over a year but am just now really hitting my stride. This list would have helped me to overcome some of the hurdles in the beginning and will continue to be a good reference. Nice.

I am pretty new to blogging myself, and found your post extremely helpful. I work as a recruiter in Boston for Hollister Staffing (www.hollisterstaff.com) and blogging has gotten onto my radar more and more recently. I am starting to realize how great of a tool it is to find advice, network, and also to see what other people are saying about something that interests you. I have recently started recommending to my clients that they start blogging, and I cant wait to show them this post, I think it will be really helpful!

This is the time of year when, every time the phone rings here at Veritas Prep HQ, there's a good chance it's an applicant calling to ask us if he should apply to business school in the third admissions round, or if he should wait until next year. The answer, as is the answer for most things in life, is "It depends."

Personal Branding

When I embarked on my blog journey last December, I thought of it as just an extension of who I was, professionally and personally. I also looked at the blog as a way of being creative. It’s become more than that to me and those of you that read this. My blog is now part of my personal brand.
