Hushmath Alam I'm trying to build a site that must have the capability to allow members to renew their membership and also register for events within the site. Is there a way to integrate both membership management and event registration on a Wordpress site (through plugins, widgets, etc.)? Or is there another product/service I could use that would allow me to integrate everything on one site? I have built sites using WP but don't have experience with something as complicated as this. Thanks in advance.

Carlee Mallard My company just updated its social media policy. What's interesting is that the Communications office has asked all employees to remove the company name from our LinkedIn "professional headline" (although we're allowed to continue to list the company in our work history) in order to "avoid the appearance that an employee is an authorized [company] spokesperson and to avoid the association of personal opinions" with the company. Are there any other companies out there taking this route?

I was shot down on this idea because they were afraid of what it would bring. What they don't understand is that student-athletes still have a profile and could potentially say/do dumb things online. The college neglecting to put their own message out there really doesn't help this.

Jake,
That's funny to hear because a few years ago I knew a company that was the same way. "We can't be on Facebook ... We don't approve a company page ... Don't use our logo, someone could steal it." So you know what we did? We did it anyway!

I still laugh at the "they might steal our logo" thought!

I mentioned how much I liked CEO Tony Hsieh's book "Delivering Happiness" and I got a response back from them. Incredible.

I'm not sure we'd be able to do that so much since we have a limited team (So no full time tweeter). But we could be more engaging. Perhaps some real time comments about what is going on at the office...make it seem more engaging. Like there is a real person behind the twitter account.

Can this backfire though? Might we say something inappropriate for general audiences? Or is the reward worth the risk?
