There was no group formed for those of us in Vancouver, so I thought I'd create it!

Let's see what Vancouverites are doing, reforming, and creating.

Stanley Lee: The Toastmasters club that you belong may be a good start. I can ask around the group of entrepreneurs in the meantime to see what they think.

I do know a fair bit of entrepreneurs through Toastmasters, something to also look into if you're into that sort of thing.

Chicago seems more of a financial focused city for me. My plan is basically be there for the short term (most definitely in the immediate plans if I do manage to find something there, as I want to be at London around 0.5 to 1 year before the Olympic Games there). I'm also fairly concerned about work visas as not many companies want to sponsor.

If you're after the outdoors, skiing, snowboarding, and other physical activities, Vancouver is a great place with still a smallish community feel. From your background shown on your LinkedIn profile, in terms of leadership training and coaching + entrepreneurship, it seems this place would be suitable, as this professional climate is reasonably abundant.

May Hi to all, I would like to learn more about Vancouver, what universities are there? How is living? Any clou how difficult it is to get a permanent residence as a german?

Moved here from London Feb09 as skilled worker permanent residence(PR). Number of qualifiying positions for PR recently reduced so more difficult to get now. Also more difficult to renew 1 year work permit. Seems there are a lot of jobs available in Vancouver & property market relatively strong. Combines relaxed working environment with high quality of life (outdoor activities etc.), but it's a long way from anywhere. Sea, forests, mountains, & a lively and liveable city.
