Ruth Jackson Anyone going to the 'Forum 3' charity networking/recruitment event in London later this month? What are you hoping to get out of it? Has anyone been before and got any tips? I'm looking forward to it - preparation for this is the first element of jobhunting that I've really enjoyed!

Tameem Qazi Its almost a month since i moved to UK. To improve job prospects i too got my resume professionally written and despite that im still getting rejections :) I havent given up hope though because a good opportunity will come by which has my name tag on it. But this proves that a professionally written CV isnt your ticket to finding a job. Its only aim is to get you an interview which btw is not guaranteed. What matters is to keep applying.

Pete Collins Two different questions from one expertly crafted blog post! What more could you want?? Do you use Freecycle or similar services, and why or why not? Do you trust metrics like GDP and growth as things governments should aim for and do they really reflect people's material situation? http://petejamescollins.wordpress.com/2010/09/10/freecycle-the-gdp-subve...

Kate Davids New Blog Post! The second in my Getting a Visa blog series, this time I'm chronicling my observations of paperwork, and the huge quantity it takes! What is your experience with visas? http://katetheprofessional.wordpress.com/2010/09/07/visa-process-2-filli...

I'm interested to know if you had to interview to get your visa- I know that in several countries in Central America, people applying for even a tourist visa have to go through a long interview process that costs hundreds of dollars, and often ends up in their request ultimately being denied without refund.

I've never traveled to a country where I had to apply for a tourist visa beforehand, and while living in Argentina as a student I was allowed to enter the country on a tourist visa and apply for a student visa while in the country. That process took only a morning, so it wasn't too bad. I know that since Argentina has changed their visa requirements and requires that Americans apply for a tourist visa beforehand, because the US requires it of Argentines.

TOP IDEA: Pete Collins Don't let too much research kill your idea before it is born. Developing ideas is a skill you need to practice, so let your imagination run with the idea first before you Google it. http://petejamescollins.wordpress.com/2010/08/02/google-says-no/

TOP IDEA: Pete Collins How does your company communicate with you, and within itself? I work in a large company and the emphasis is still on "top-down" communication. http://petejamescollins.wordpress.com/2010/07/21/how-do-large-companies-...

Out of interest, how big is your company? I'm still interested in the idea of how many you need for a "critical mass" to make wikis and other social tools self-sustaining. Seeing as we both work for engineering firms, I'd have thought our companies would be ideal for this kind of thing. I wonder if engineering is a conservative profession (which is usually a good thing in this case!).
Thinking out loud, perhaps communication within groups (not just companies) is best at very small and very large scales, but poorer in the middle. Two people working together should be able to communicate very well, as would any group up to a small-office-full. At the other end, the huge number of Wikipedia users and editors keep that ticking along very nicely. Perhaps large companies have both too many people for face-to-face interaction to be effective, but too few to get the critical mass to use social media effectively. There's definitely a blog post in that I think.

It isn't promoted within the company - I only happened to find out about it by accident. Even if people find it most don't really realize that they can edit stuff.

Pete Collins Hey all, When reading something interesting, I often seem to derive a conclusion about something completely different. I'm not sure if this is positive or not, but it can make blogging easier... http://petejamescollins.wordpress.com/2010/06/04/new-politics-new-you/ Thanks, Pete

Adam Piplica Hi UK peeps. I wasn't sure how well this social network would work in the UK as Brazen Careerist has been very US-centric, but I'm pleasantly surprised this group has 49 members. By way of an introduction I'm a research consultant based in Leeds and founder of Magicalpenny.com
