The Appreciation Revolution

The Appreciation Revolution started as a guest post series on my blog, Life Is Like a Box of Chocolates, but that's only the beginning! It's now available in an e-book, so you can take appreciation with you!

This group is for people who believe appreciation and gratitude should be part of our every day lives. Use this as a forum to express appreciation or share ideas on showing your gratitude. Thanks for joining!

And check out the Appreciation Revolution on Facebook!

Ryan Paugh In case any of you are contemplating starting a blog, I read a great introductory post today from a friend of mine, Olga Garcia: http://bit.ly/i9GA71 Most peoples first post is all about them: Why they're starting the blog, what they're going to write about, etc. I love Olga's post because for me the most valuable thing about blogging has been the personal connections. I can't think of a better way to launch a blog than to give shout outs to people who have made an impact on you.

TOP IDEA: Ryan Paugh I got the most awesome video today from Amanda Hite over at Talent Revolution >> http://bit.ly/bhmJqw It was a good reminder of how important it is to show appreciation to the people in our communities that help us breathe life into what we do. So what have you done lately to show appreciation to your community? I'll be the first to admit that I could be doing more. Little things go a long way and that's where I am going to start.

This can be at home or out somewhere, particularly if I see something that somebody else threw on the ground, or something that's been ignored but should (ideally) be cleaned up, I'll pick it up and dispose of it or recycle it in the nearest garbage or recycling bin, and if one's not near, I put it in a plastic bag and carry it to somewhere I know there is one. A little less clutter in our environment shows a little more consideration towards others, doncha think?

That's an excellent way to show your appreciation to their environment around you and the people who live in it. On a more one-to-one basis, how are you showing your important connections that they're still important to you? I love cleaning up the environment, but to show appreciation to your peers I think it almost requires more undivided gratitude.

Know what I mean?

Meghan Skiff I'm in PHX on business and was attending a happy with local YPs and was fortunate to meet these Gen Y rock stars walking from coast to coast to support the Gail's Angels Foundation. They are blogging (http://coasttocoastforacure.com/) and I thought that you folks would be interested in following their journey. So why are they doing it? They feel that in the past they weren't always appreciative for their good health and life and wanted to help those who aren't as lucky. Check them out!

Sabera (Kapasi) Photographer: I always send hand-written thankyou notes. Shows how genuine the emotion is. And I've noticed it sticks better with people.

As a rule of thumb, I try to send an email thanks for people I've networked with, gotten advice from, met for coffee, etc. For employment, it's a nice touch and shows you went to some trouble to send a hand written note. Analog notes just show a more personal touch!
