Sushi is yummy! Show your love for this Japanese cuisine!

Gary Brown Uh oh, this Sushi group is languishing... are there just so few Brazeneers out there who prefer their fish frozen-then-thawed on sweet-vinegared short-grain rice with a hint of Japanese horseradish? I claim that sushi makes for the perfect business lunch meeting. So I'll ask-- *** Had a good business lunch lately over sushi? *** I'll start: I met a former professor for sushi and had a great conversation about our career paths. The small portions kept the conversation two-ways. Perect!

We've eaten sushi at The Fortune House in Burke (a small shop located near Walmart), and Miso is an Asian-fusion restaurant in Annandale. All serve very good sushi, sashimi and tempura.

Maura V. Pingor Back after some time off and after dealing with some technical issues that didn't allow me to get through our secured wall into my favorite website: Brazen! Very busy at work, but the hightlight of my day was the 'girls night in' where I made sushi for 20+ ladies in the neighborhood! It was a lot of fun!

We even made volcano rolls (California rolls with a broiled mix of crab, mayo and hot sauce on top). It was very good!

It was so funny to see the combinations that people came up with. :)

Gary Brown Surprisingly in California, some sushi shops still cook their rice wrong, either overcooked or with too much vinegar. Have you seen this too? Sushi with bad rice is like a sandwich on stale bread. I've been told there's a correlation between the ethnicity of the owner and the quality of the rice, but I'd still like to give non-Japanese proprietors a chance, like the way Sumo has given non-Japanese a chance to infiltrate the upper ranks and even become Yokozuna. Fortunately there's yelp.com.

Ashley Evans I can tell you some sushi not to eat. The "sushi" bought at convenient stores like Royal Farms. It is the worst excuse for sushi I have ever tasted. It's more like old newspaper wrapped around a glob of grossness.

Daya Bihm I LOVE sushi! Do any of you go to different places for different types? I find that Osaka has the best Boston roll, but our favorite place for red dragon roll is at a restaurant called the Jellyfish Bar (Perdido Key, FL).

Jennifer Koren: @Emily: I'm in Baltimore too! Have you tried the Cross Street Market? It's the only place we go to in the city but now I'll have to try Edo.

This weekend when we went to our 'preferred' location, I realized it was because of the rice. The rolls have the more sticky rice and texture just melts in my mouth...yumm.

Another thing that I've been told to do is soak the rice in water for 20-30 minutes then rinse it repeatedly. Supposedly that's the key to getting the right texture. Let us know how it turns out.

JR Moreau In Davis Square, Somerville, Massachusetts there's a spot that services all sushi in brown rice. I've had the brown rice sushi from Whole Foods before and really like it. This place does it REALLY well and is fairly priced too. Definitely worth checking out! http://www.yelp.com/biz/snappy-sushi-somerville
