Rachel Howe I was working as a non paid, intern with a company helping them with their social media. I gave them tips on SEO and tried 2 get them to start a blog-they havent. I was going to come up with topics that they could tweet about and post on Facebook, but that never happened. I come to find out that they got an "MBA consultant" (rolls eyes) 2 do a "social media audit" as well and they shrugged me off w/o contacting me for a month, I had 2. Im kind of offended about the whole thing. What do u think?

Social media, for many companies, is still a relatively new medium they can add to the mix. I think, a lot of companies want to get on the social media bandwagon, but, don't really understand how to use it to their advantage. Or they really don't know that they need or want. Don't forget, when making your suggestions, you need to sell the company on the benefit it brings for them...posting for the sake of posting really translates to what benefit for the company? Sell the company on the benefits of using social media and you're off to a much better start. Don't give up bigger and better things will come. Take Care!

It shouldn't be black or white though - maybe allow the person to selectively exclude types of information. Having written that, I know you can glean a lot about a person from a few inputs.

Lindsay Wyskowski I have a question for you community managers out there - do you allow corporate partners to post on your Facebook page? Or would you? We are a non-profit organization and have corporate partners, and we're wondering if we should allow them to advertise in our community (which might alienate fans and really only provides a benefit for the partner in the way of free advertising). How would you approach this?

If you have set guidelines I don't see any reason why you wouldn't allow it as long as it aligned with your message and supported your culture. Perhaps I am a little bitter because I don't have an iPhone so I can't even use it. To me that just seems a blatant oversight as to the type of people on facebook. Realistically what % of facebook users have an iPhone? Why not just make it accessible through their website?

I do like that atleast you don't need another login and website to visit but I would like to be able to tell facebook who gets to see my location updates. Like photos I don't want to share everything with everyone. I think it does have massive potential for the future though.

Ryan Paugh Should you need an MBA to do Social Media Marketing? Brands seem to think yes while agencies are saying no.
