Noise is mostly generated by corporations and companies who want number results. They'd pay to do the same thing. individual users who are in it for the sake of being in it, and so generate genuine and authentic content wouldn't stick around too long.

I guess the harsh reality of this space, much like anything else in this fast paced society, is the noise isn’t going anywhere and it comes with the territory. After all there is just way too much data bouncing around within these spaces.

@Andrea V. Lewis: That’d be about my price range as well. From a business perspective, think of the revenue stream you’d be able to generate following the pay scale of mobile apps. The couple of dollars to have a premium service doesn’t even cross my mind to pay for and download because the value and convenience it serves. It’s a one time deal and it’s a billion dollar industry.

@Kristina Summers: I do agree the social networks would lose a lot of accounts. But, Twitter for instance; think of the number of inactive accounts. Those accounts who stand stagnant and have less than 10 followers; it’s a mind boggling number. I think those would be the users most likely not to pay and leave shop. So I honestly don’t think you’d see a huge dent in Twitter with those who actually use the service, it’d be those who just have an account.
Great feedback everyone, I appreciate the conversation.

We're experimenting with various social media avenues to bridge the gap between social media and social enterprises, to see if there could be any synergies. If anyone is interested to talk or bounce ideas please let me know. Thanks alot!

I would also add to the list for Twitter that it is a good 'news filter'. I often see articles of interest to me that I likely would have otherwise missed because the people I follow are people who are interested in the same topics that I am.

There are some open source forum software systems. Generally you should play with different ones and see a) what your planned host supports -- for example GoDaddy has several open source offerings in their auto-install queue -- and b) what works best for you, seems the most intuitive to you.
