Seth Godin Book Club

Given the recent webinar with Seth Godin, I have gone out and purchased many of his books. Did you do this too? Are you re-reading anything of his? Would love to continue talking about what he writes with those of you here on Brazen!

Brett Kunsch I never knew putting together an evil plan was so much fun. Hugh MacLeod's new book, "Evil Plans: Having Fun on the Road to World Domination" gave me a refreshing jolt. What's your evil plan? http://bit.ly/g0kuDr (the first post on my new site: www.millennialcoach.com!)

Brett Kunsch: @Clara - I'll DM you to see where I can help. Definitely hit up the Tweet Chats as Dave suggested. See this post: More@Clara - I'll DM you to see where I can help. Definitely hit up the Tweet Chats as Dave suggested. See this post: http://bit.ly/fy7sOx

@Noel - Thanks! I'm with Dave...it's not quite evil, but doing something you love to do is the best plan of all!

@Dave - It seems I've interrupted the hijacking :)

Dave Ellis: Feel free to interrupt - it's your discussion. We're just adding the evil...

Jake LaCaze I've read All Marketers Are Liars, The Big Red Fez, The Bootstrapper's Bible, The Dip, Meatball Sundae, Small is the New Big, and I'm currently working on Linchpin. I used to read Godin's blog every day, but I've shied away from that. I also own Purple Cow and hope to read it soon. Are any of Godin's other books a "must read"?

Mazarine I've read "Free Prize Inside," the sequel to "How to Make Purple Cow" and some of Seth's ebooks and of course, his blog. I love what he has to say. He's also on Scribd, posting occasionally.

Angie Roach I've been pouring over "The Dip" and am finding some great motivation for persevering through my dip. One key piece I've been going back to is that those that are successful don't have more talent, they have laser vision focus and are determined to reach their goals. I'm still having a hard time finding my focus - my light at the end of the tunnel. How did you decide what to be your goal vs. what to quit?

In college I decided I wanted to be an entrepreneur because I wanted to build something from the ground up that could truly make a difference, help people, change the world....all that good stuff.

After college I started a blog and got a lot of attention for my writing. People were asking me to speak, write books, etc. It was pretty cool, and it came out of nowhere, but I knew that even though it was a form of entrepreneurship, it wasn't the kind of entrepreneur I wanted to be. It could have been good money and a lot of fun, but I still wanted to build something great from the ground up. So I decided that what I really wanted was to create Brazen Careerist, all the other speaking, blogging and writing stuff had to take a back seat, or Brazen would never have a chance.

I don't regret it for a second.

Mazarine: You need people around you to help you focus. Trust me. I've tried organizing alone before. It doesn't work.
