The founder, Ms. Ann Smarty is such an active individual over social networks that she has made it even more easier to not only send feedback, but also response time of their moderators. I assure you, they have an incredibly reliable platform and they are so helpful! I've sent e-mails to people with high pageranks and related niches and I've ended up publishing 19 guest posts. Erika Gimbel Do I hurt the SEO on a site if I use the same keywords on each page title? (In other words, does Google frown on that?). For example, if "ABC" is my phrase and I title every page as like this... * About | ABC * Contact | ABC * Home | ABC ...will that help or hurt in search engine ranking? Is there some kind of maximum threshold? Let me know if this questions makes sense, and thanks in advance!

And sometimes it's ok to target 2 keywords per page. and the "ABC" keyword is ok on all of your pages, as long as you add to it. maybe homepage is "ABC", another page could be "ABC in New York", another page could be "buy ABC in France". You get the idea.... if you have a certain niche market, and if you only deal with ABC, optimize every page for ABC but with different keywords surrounding it.

Choose the posts title carefully. Two reasons for that - first the title is considered important to google. Second - generally when people link back to your post they'll use the title; that creates an incoming link with keywords in it, which helps google "understand" what your site is about. (ex. as a freelancer, i try to include freelancing or freelancer in as many of my titles as possible).

2. Make sure all your social networking sites link back to your website with a relevant link term. If the words "Melissa's Blog" link back to my site, that might tell a friend what the site is, but it doesn't tell google anything about what the content will be. Instead: "My Freelance Writing Blog" will improve the sites ranking when someone searches for "freelance writing."

3. Link internally to your older posts with relevant search terms. So if I'm writing about freelancing marketing and I've done a post on SEO I can mention that SEO is a free way to market yourself - and link "SEO is a free way to market yourself" back to my piece on SEO.

It's not quantity over quality. That's what people need to remember. My clients get a lot of junk from chop shops that proclaim they can get them to the top of the list. What they fail to realize is that my clients are at the top of the list in their market... SEO is not generalized it's about what the company does best and getting it to the right people. If you look up Web development for my company you will not find us. But if you look up Interactive Brand Strategy you will, and that is what I am looking for.. People who want what I have to sell and not people who are out shopping for a Web site they want slapped together. They can go to Craig's List for that shit.

Hi Elizabeth,

Don't sweat it too much. Back in the day, a number of people started spamming the search engines, so search engines started punishing you for doing so.

Now, most search engines will just ignore it. It won't help you, but it won't really hurt you either. There are some exception to the rule, but most of those search engines don't really give you that much traffic anyway.

That being said, once a year is enough. You might want to ping them if they don't seem to be picking up a new page for a real long period of time.

Focus on optimizing your content and building good quality links back to your site. The "extra" submissions will work themselves out. Besides, there is nothing you can really do about those old submissions anyway, just focus on doing it right going forward.

Glen.

Hi Elizabeth,

Its pretty tough to give you the "technical" proceedure for SEO, 3in a single post (obviously). But basically it comes down to 2 things.

1. Optimize your pages for no more than 1-3 keywords. Use them enough, but not too much.
2. Optimize your navigation structure to make it easy for the search engines to find everything.
3. Build links that point back to your site. And try to get good link text when you do it.

Thats really it. Simple but not easy. Consistency in number 3 is the key.

Make sure you have your users/audience in mind when it comes to your content. Don't over due it by adding too many keywords. Also, think like a search engine would... The search engine "crawls" the site from top to bottom. If you have navigation, put it at the top so it knows what other pages to crawl. If you have images, make sure you have 'alt' tags because it can't "crawl" images. Use heading tags to start off paragraphs of content, etc... These are pretty basic steps to get you started...
