Leslie Nielsen has passed away. Everyone remembers him for his role in the Airplane movies. But I will always remember his role in the 1956 Sci-fi movie "Forbidden Planet". So V will be back on our screens at the end of March. Is anyone still looking forward to it? I was really excited when I heard they were bringing it back last Fall, but I wasn't exactly blown away by the 4 episodes they aired.

Now it's coming back, but by all accounts it's been re-tooled and has a new show runner. So I'm not sure exactly what we're going to get. I'd probably say give it an episode and see how you feel.

Has anyone read Neal Stephenson's Anathem? Immediately vaulted into my top 10 favorite books. Partially a conceptual successor to A Canticle for Liebowitz, with a little Cryptonomicon and Charles Stross sprinkled in.

I think Neal Stephenson is a really important thinker. Cryptonomicon is one of the books I recommend to people who claim they don't like science fiction along with Ender's Game by O.S. Card.
Snow Crash/Diamond Age by Stephenson were also very good but obviously the work of a "younger" man ;)

My personal recommendation: Ted Chiang's "Story of Your Life and Others". It's a collection of scifi short stories. Brilliantly thought out.
