Tony Forte Hey everyone. What's the most interesting use of QR code that any of you have seen recently? I was eating cereal this morning, yeah breakfast of champions (but not Wheaties), and saw a QR code on the box, I scanned it and it took me to someplace else in the world where it's morning time. Clearly brands are searching for methods of using QR code in fun and innovative ways, though the aforementioned is hardly it, I'm excited to see when someone, maybe even one of us nails it.

Steve Cleary I've always wanted to create a QR code treasure/scavenger hunt in a big city like NY or San Francisco. We'd post QR coded stickers all over town on landmarks/points of interest and obscure places alike that send a text to the participant of a clue to the next location. A back-end database will capture all the locations the user has been to and once a winner has been to every QR spot, a text can go out to everyone else that the hunt was over. I'd like to sell this as an event tool to marketers.

Steve,

This would be very effective for any metropolitan area, particularly those with developed metro trains and buses (i.e. NY, Chicago, D.C., etc.). I've definitely given the concept some thought, however, utilizing facebook and twitter to publicize the event check-in spots to the social network of participants would be quite enticing to marketers as well.

Seems like we're on the same page.

It would definitely leverage social media tools also. Of course, this may already exist, but even if it does that's not to say that a better tool can't be built. I'll have to put more research into it. But I love the idea of brainstorming with the QR Code Enthusiast community.

Dustin Runnells: For my Android phone I have been using "Barcode Scanner" for a while and like it, but AT&T's Code Scanner seems a little faster to me.

Tony Forte: No doubt. I haven't used barcode scanner though I've used quite a few. The best and fastest one for me has been Quick Mark.

Dustin Runnells As a developer, I can't get over the potential that QR Codes have in social media. I've attempted to create a social game of sorts using QR Codes as game pieces. If anyone is interested in helping me get started: http://qrwild.com . Scanning game pieces lets you check-in to Facebook Places and unlock badges. Players are also encouraged to create their own games by placing qr codes out in the wild for others to find. If you give it a shot, let me know what you think!

Tony Forte Here's a pretty cool use of QR code as a "find it" and "scan it" approach. This is used in the movie "The Mechanic" that opens soon. What are some ways that you've used QR code? http://2d-code.co.uk/the-mechanic-qr-code-poster/

Mike Ambassador Bruny I'll roll with you Tony. i received a business card that has a QR code on it so I downloaded an app for my iphone, but have not been able to get it to work. I did use a QR code to fly paperless on Delta. They just scanned it right from my phone (how cool was that). Your Ambassador, Mike Bruny
