I've been doing it for five years and that's all I've done.
http://dearjenna.deviantart.com <--that's my deviantART account.
http://dearjenna.deviantart.com/gallery <--that's my gallery.
I've organized it to where the first pictures you see on the page are my most recent and everything else is organized into its corresponding folders...
I sometimes have to tell people this because they don't know how to navigate deviantART if they've never been to it...

Honestly, I recommend that over Flickr, because deviantART is a real community, and I hate the setup of Flickr...
But it's up to you! A lot of people use one or both! :) I hope you enjoy working with photography...

Kat Argonza Hey! I've been posting my photographs on my blog at http://www.wayfaring-stranger.com. I've never taken a class on photography - I basically picked up a camera and started clicking away! I was looking for some help and criticism! I'm trying to improve as much as possible before I really start traveling and taking this gig a little seriously. Any criticism or advice on my photography?

You have some good photos, like the last one in the arizona set. I wonder what lens you are using, because I see a lot of close up shots. For landscape, consider using a very wide lens. Also it's important to take photos when the lighting is good, early morning or early sunset. Good luck!

Elizabeth Williams I'm working on a project for my local fitness studio, and I really want to do a photo like this: http://morfis.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/pretty-in-pink.jpg I've tried long exposures before, but they tend to come out like this: http://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/motion-blur-photograph...

Reminds me of this video from Joe McNally. http://www.nikonusa.com/Learn-And-Explore/Photography-Techniques/fy1hs59...
You wouldn't need the 10 strobes obviously, but the same basic effect of how to get from point A to point B. It is the same idea you had in the photo you posted, it's just a lot of precision - speed of the dancer/shutter speed/amount of light/timing the final shot.

Try to replicate the situation you plan on shooting in - lit room, dark room, use your BF as a model for fun, think of color of clothing, what you can use to keep the model lit before your actual strobe goes off, and practice practice practice. Personally, I would keep it as simple as possible. Keep in mind the shot you want, but be flexible with what the situation gives you.

James Thomas Do any of you sell some of your photos on microstock sites? I have been using iStock for a while, and just started with Shutterstock and Bigstock. Just curious what others you would recommend.

I think my love for editorial photojournalism and seeing the repetition in deviantART uploads is starting to get to me. I find myself shying away from the typical, posed shots (while they can be creative and beautiful, are often just mimicking one style) and moving towards more natural shots. By natural, I do not mean nude, heh. I actually mean natural lighting, no editing (not that I did that much before), and more candid shots. I find it beautiful--a window into the soul of the one modeling.
