Cheryl Lynn Morris Back in the late 70s/early 80s, I read in Psychology Today about Dr. Ira Progoff's Intensive Journal technique for accessing and managing your attitudes and beliefs in your subconscious mind. I learned from the examples in the article, and was able to extinguish a bad habit that was alarming me. I've signed up to take the 3-hour Introductory Presentation in Ellicott City, Maryland on June 3, 2012. See this website for details: http://www.intensivejournal.org/general/northeast_midAtlantic.php

Ellie Behling OK, the world of relationships is so convoluted by social media. Dating is particularly a whole new world. As someone who works in social media, I find it's especially hard to not let social media affect my relationships. My friend Alex wrote a good post about the 10 commandments of social media and dating: http://bit.ly/InK0lT The summary: learn to give people social media space! Interesting concept -- what rules do you follow with social media and dating?

I mean, WHY should they give up their space just because your laptop needs to be recharged? Sounds like it's YOUR personal problem to me, not a rudeness issue. Get an external battery pack and be done with it.

I never know what I want when I walk into a cafe or fast food resteraunt, which is why I always stand to the side and look at the menu first.

@JRandom & Kate, I've never understood the allure of bringing your laptop to a cafe to work. It's noisy and usually crowded.

I thought I'd share my thoughts and experiences by starting a new blog, http://resumemascara.wordpress.com. I would love to have guest posts! What do you think in general? Do you think this would be helpful to you/ something you would like to contribute to? Because I'm just getting started all criticism/feedback/suggestions are welcome!

Being a communications major with an emphasis in PR, I joined in order to meet like-minded students and enhance my learning experience. PRSSA is a national organization and has national professional chapters as well (PRSA). There were a variety of student organizations on campus that helped students to take their studies and apply them to the working world. We were encouraged to hold internships, attend student and professional networking events, and were aided in the areas I mentioned above. I would suggest joining a student organization to anyone-it really gave us a leg up when breaking into the workforce after college!! Although I did this in college, I think classes or workshops to teach high school students these skills would be a great idea!!

Going to a networking event and not feeling like a hemophiliac at a vampire convention. Probably why I relate better to software and cats. :)

I'm an extrovert or so I thought until I went to this 3 day summit last year and was totally ready to be away from people. I found having an anchor in someone I knew that I could take a timeout with helped tons. I also reached out to many of the folks at the event before the actual event (used twitter hashtag and facebook) so help make the transition a bit easier.

TOP IDEA: Cameron Plommer I'm starting to realize that I don't need more information on HOW to do something. Instead what I find most useful is information (books, blogs, whatever) that inspires me to do something. Whether it's inspiration to learn a new topic, get in shape or be a better person. The How-to is only applicable at a low level because what works for one person may not work for another. With that said, what have you read or read regularly that inspires you?

The wisdom of that has played out as I've networked with Gen Y folks a few years younger than me (I'm in my early 30s), and constantly been inspired by their energy and enthusiasm to tackle exciting projects.

Brett Kunsch If 80% of success is showing up, then the other 20% is finishing. Last month I "showed up" to write a blog post, but then I didn't finish it (I was so sick that it caused me to miss my honeymoon - no joke). Just today, I went into my drafts folder and said "I'm finishing this post!" It felt pretty awesome. How do you ensure you not only show up, but also FINISH? http://bit.ly/gBCIsv

I don't mean it exactly in the common terms of "warm, fuzzy feeling of accomplishment" vs external reward. Maybe because at my heart I'm a people pleaser, but I work best when somebody else is depending on me to get the job done. I'd probably be a much better blogger if someone was paying me to do it!

People like to point and laugh at "stupid people". We're not allowed to do it in the "real world", so we turn to TV to provide a source of stupid people to laugh at.

JenG There's a lot in the blogosphere about the value of setting really audacious goals. I don't disagree, but I also know that big goals can spook you enough that you never get started. In this post, I offer a case study showing how one of my readers used a system I created to convert small wins (like talking to strangers) into BIG wins (like getting the attention of a NYC book agent). It's truly a fascinating and inspiring story. http://t.co/iN9GPxk

Having lived through a war in my teens (Balkans) I found it unimaginable that an East Coast event would affect classes in California, so we went. I was wrong. Few people that showed up spent some time discussing structural implications of the crash in the typical fashion of an architectural class. Then I went home, stopping to buy a selection of my favorite foods and a bottle of wine, made myself a feast and went to bed, never turning on the TV. I did not want to deal with a potential of another war.

TOP IDEA: Brett Kunsch I've read countless personal development books, but I always come back to the conclusion that a lot of times we don't seek out self-help books to help ourselves, we seek them out so they can do the work for us. As part of my coach training, I've had 3 coaches myself, and it seems the only thing that *sticks* is regular work with another human being who holds me accountable. Yet the self-help industry booms, while coaching is still trying to find a name for itself. Brazen thoughts?
