Ryan Paugh Even though I'm currently living in Madison, WI I'd really love to move back to the East Coast soon to be near more friends and family. I've sold my girlfriend on the idea of coming with me. Her first pick is somewhere in North Carolina. My first pick is somewhere in/around Boston, MA. She thinks Boston is too cold + doesn't have enough of an artsy scene. I guess I'm not really sure. I figured I'd leave it up to the experts. Any thoughts guys?

Susan Johnston Hi BCers! I'm actually based in Boston, but I've been assigned to write an article about Twitter users in NC. Specifically I need to find a recent grad in NC who has found a job through Twitter or networked their way to a job through Twitter and would be up for a quick interview by phone or email before next Wedesday (I know - it's a tall order!). Does this sound like you or someone you know? Let me know - thanks!

Melinda McKee Any advice on moving beyond "professional volunteer writer" status to landing paying gigs? I've written my share of pro bono marketing copy and guest blog posts (including to some national audiences); now trying to figure out how to actually monetize my skills. Any words of wisdom are appreciated!

I would also keep an eye out for folks who post in different forums asking for feedback on what they have written. It may be an opportunity for future biz. Do keep us posted on how it goes and when you get that first paid gig (it's quite a feeling).

But my advice is to create a professional looking website and gather testimonials from clients to feature on them -- even if your past gigs were pro bono, you don't have to advertise that and can gain new clients based on your excellent reviews from the past! :)

Courtney Canfield Please Help! I'm helping my boyfriend in his search for a Certified BMW technician for immediate hire at his successful, independent BMW dealership & service shop in Greensboro. We've been looking for the past 6 months & have had no luck. The only resumes we've received are from unqualified candidates, many of whom lie about their certifications & work experience. If any one has any referrals, or if you are a certified tech yourself looking for work in our area, please contact me for more info!

Harriet May The company I work for, Loom Learning, is about to start looking for a new help desk agent. We're a startup elearning company, so everything is new and exciting. No experience necessary, although some tech knowledge would be beneficial. Great hours, great people. Must be a good communicator and in the Charlotte area. Jason H. Parker Hey Brazen Community! I want to crowdsource some feedback from you. First, would you be interested in a virtual event where we'd connect you with our community's top bloggers? If we hosted this, would you also want to talk to other up-and-coming bloggers as well? Second, would there be any value for our community in hosting another virtual event to connect career and life coaches with aspiring professionals? Third, are you interested in being a featured blogger? Let me know!

Harriet May I am trying an experiment with my blog, www.harrietmay.com. As of today I am writing it as if it were a novel. It may not work, it may be a disaster, but in some ways I think it feels more natural to me, and that this is not only an experiment but also a natural evolution. Have you changed your blog recently? Are you finding that it is growing naturally, or have you always had a clear idea of what it should look like and focus on?

It started out as more of a diary and now it's full of humor, advice and quips about life. Now I am pretty clear on what content I want to include on there. It's good to evolve a little bit and keep bettering your brand [or in your case, your blog].

There's a weird thing that happens with a lot of "careerists," I think, where they encounter this "rule" that says THERE MUST BE A BLOG. Then you wind up with myriads of people bending over backward in excruciating ways to try to find something to say as close to every day as possible because... THERE MUST BE A BLOG. There's a lot to be said for waiting until you are sure you have something to say before saying it. It's like Rainer Maria Rilke's advice in "Letters to a Young Poet"- if you wake in the middle of the night and think, "I must write," then write. Otherwise, don't.

I took a crack at a standard blog format, but just lately had to adapt it to my left-of-center approach. http://furtherelement.com

Actually I think the department is the right size and as the company grows and changes and the department does hire new people, they can get them off on the right foot as it is. Also, we were successful enough in our department that we started reaching into the departments that we interacted with. This was lead by the two best people in my department, not me.

@Megan: Seconding what Edward said. If grouping your appointments wasn't a big deal, there would not be route planning software that calculates shortest path. Are you aware the UPS no left turn program? http://www.e-myth.com/cs/user/print/post/ups-makes-the-right-turn

Let me suggest that if you are not aware of it to look into Six Sigma. I am not saying you have to get certified, learn and understand the techniques and apply them to your industry, you will be surprised.

I understand not everyone is like this. What I am saying is that if you are not like this, I don't have a spot for you on MY team. What those on my team learn is that this actually makes there job easier and frees there time to do less mundane and more interesting work. Which in turn gives them opportunities to gain breadth and depth to their skill set. I just don't have space for people who want to come to work and no matter how well they do it, are satisfied being in the same position doing the same work, the same way, year after year. -- "A monkey can do that." http://resumemascara.com/2011/02/11/a-monkey-could-do-that/

(Jesse, thanks for Six Sigma and UPS references, I'll be looking at them tonight for sure!) My concern with including that on my resume is that I would rather fill the space with big, juicy achievements: such as meeting all my clients' goals under budget, landing major customers to participate in our clients' programs, etc. I guess my less-than-successfully-executed point was that I contribute to my clients' success much much more than my company's bottom line (due to my position). Sometimes the cutting costs and bringing in revenue stuff doesn't pale in comparison to what a person actually achieves. I kind of feel "grouping appointments" would look extremely out of place when adjacent to my role-specific achievements. I'm not the greatest resume organizer though.

Harriet May Looking for a new customer support rep in the Charlotte area! Since we're a startup (in the elearning industry) it's nothing like being in a call center and reading from a script. Just because they link to you or credit you doesn't mean anything.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind people quoting and offering their own opinions and analysis, but there is never any reason to repost content in its entirety. The bottom line for me is that if my content is making someone money (directly or indirectly) that person should be me.

@Sandrine As for what people do about it, contact them and tell them to remove it if that doesn't work, step it up and get an attorney.

I remember getting emails from reader who saw my content reproduced, and I'd email asking the blogger to remove the content or attribute the work to me. It was exhausting.

It became less important with time, too time consuming to bother with. I am bothered by splogs more so than real creative bloggers using my work.

I have considered going the un copyrighted way of Zen habits. The blogesphere is just too large and there is no time.
http://zenhabits.net/open-source-blogging-feel-free-to-steal-my-content/

Understand, my blog is personal. It doesn't contain my academic work or professional analysis. I don't make my living by writing and never intend to, so this is where I am coming from.
