Jay Hepner I will check in with some of my non-profit friends and see what I can find out. YNPN = Young Non Profit Network? of Gen Y NPN? Meanwhile, if you're in Life Sciences, a new work opportunity is coming to Gaithersburg soon: http://www.gazette.net/stories/12092009/gaitnew212122_32565.php

Ashley Parker Hey MoCo peeps- what opportunities are you aware of that are specific to MoCo for nonprofit networking? I'm active with YNPNdc, but would love to get some events, activities, and groups going here in MoCo- there are a huge number of orgs, charities, etc. here and I'm sure a lot of young nonprofit pros as well.

Jay Hepner Welcome Ashley! Are you a native Montgomery Countian or new to town? Where'd you go to college, and what put you in the non-profit as opposed to the for-profit world? Too many questions? That's ok. Just wanted to welcome you to the network. Looking forward to building a Brazen presence here in MoCo. I'm from here: Peary HS graduate, '75. Yeah, back then. Started at UM, traveled all over the US before and after graduating with a BA in ed. from U of IA. Came back because it's home.

I am not native to MoCo, I'm originally from Bradenton, FL. I attended college at Hollins University, a women's college, in Roanoke, VA. I joined the non-profit world because I had experience in working in nonprofits via internships, and honestly, I find that it's a lot easier to get out of bed in the morning know that what I do drives social change, not just profits. Looking forward to contributing to the community here!

Jay Hepner Very sophisticated population. Well-read, diverse, international, as befits the Nation's Capital's backyard. It's home, and I've been away enough to know I like it, and the chance to read The Washington Post everyday. Unlike the NY Times, the Post has comics, and good ones.

JR Moreau Never been to Montgomery County, MD. Looks beautiful though. Lots of cool industry there too. What else do you like about living here?
