Ryan Paugh I felt the need for a impulse buy today so I bought a new snowboard for this winter. I've lived in Wisconsin for more than 3 years now, but I have never gone to any of the mountains. Which is your favorite? I hear that the best in close proximity to Madison is Devil's Head. I'd like to try out Tyrol Basin as well because it is closer to my side of town.

It seems like you give people a link to click in order to increase your influence - but increasing your influence doesn't seem to be about anything but clicking the link. I have trouble with the idea of signing up and pushing this out to my network if I feel like I'm just wasting their time having them click links with the purpose of clicking links. But I've seen comments here and there that people have made good connections through it - there MUST be something I'm missing about how it works! Could you help enlighten me?

Ryan Paugh Just bought a season pass to Wisconsin State Parks. This is the first year that I've bought one for the entire year. I try to go to Devil's Lake a couple times per season, but I now I intend to diversify my outdoor excursions. Any recommendations for other State Parks that I should be visiting? I'm open to pretty much anything ...

I'm thinking that a road trip up to Amnicon or Copper Falls is going to be in my future. I'll just take the top of the Jeep and prepare for a long drive :)

Ryan...we buy an annual every year and it always pays itself off ten-fold.

One thing we LOVE to participate in is all of the candlelight hikes in the Fall and Winter. They do them out at Kohler, Lapham, Blue Mounds and Kegonsa to name just a few. They illuminate the trails with candles and torches and you go for a dark, snowy hike with your family...most of them offer bonfires and Cocoa/Cider/Coffee/Marshmallows at the end.

Sure, scaling rock out at Devil's in the middle of summertime is always epic, but the real hidden jewels offered up with your park pass start to shine when it cools off around here.

Best thing to do is go to the WDNR website and check the Calendar to see what's going on.

Laura Benson-Hadley Hi, everyone. I'm looking for some advice about networking in Milwaukee. One Brazen suggested FUEL, which I'm looking into. Does anyone else have any ideas for networking, either online or (even more helpfully) in person? How about local job fairs? THANK YOU!!!

Laura,
When I was new in Milwaukee three years ago, I tried FUEL and really didn't find it offered much. Instead, I joined AAUW (American Association of University Women)-Milwaukee Branch. It's a nationally affiliated organization with very rich local roots and history. It's also very affordable compared to other professional women's networking organizations in town.
Further, the women in the group are great mentors and stack new members in leadership positions. I've gotten three speaking gigs and three leadership titles as a result of the connections I've made in the group and I've made some great local friends as well. They are incredibly welcoming and very invested in new, working professional members. I highly recommend looking into it, message me for more info!
Good luck!
