Madison Foodies

Madison foodies rejoice! This group is for people who want to explore and discuss the best food Madison has to offer...together! BTW this group is definitely for wannabe foodies as well, no wino or foodie credentials required.

This blog is eating its way through Madison so we can look to those folks for ideas.

Mehul Kar I've heard this a restaurant in Chicago that is somehow related to Chef Gordon Ramsay. Would anyone happen to know what I am talking about?

Ryan Paugh Just chowed down on some Ian's Mac and Cheese pizza. It's my guilty pleasure when it comes to the amazingly unhealthy, yet delicious, food that Madison has to offer us. Gotta love it! What's your guilty pleasure in Madison? Another one of mine is The Weary Traveler's Bad Breath Burger. Share yours with me ...

Ryan Paugh I'm an outcast during football season because of course I'm a Penn State guy, but a food blogger friend of mine asked me where he should go tailgate tomorrow for the Badger game. He's doing a cross-country tailgate tour and will be in town tomorrow. Thoughts on where he should spend his time?

Jenn Jackson I recently signed up for the Eat Local Challenge that the Willy Street Coop is coordinating. They are providing participants with great coupons, recipes and resources. The challenge runs from 8/15-9/15 and has several options for different levels of commitment to eating local. It's free! http://www.willystreet.coop/eat_local_challenge_pledge My biggest challenges are avocados and citrus, any suggestions for substitutions? I've been playing around with seaberries to get the citrus zing.

Ryan Paugh Anybody check out Graze yet for lunch or dinner? I highly recommend it. The food was great and easy to share w/ a small group. Think Wisconsin Tapas. The best part is that it was really cheap! The only downfall in my opinion is that they needed a bigger tap list. Especially if they're going to market themselves as a gastropub.

Keep trying! There are a lot of SM folks in Milwaukee. Met a lot of them through the UnGeeked conference in early summer.

Ryan Paugh My parents are flying in from Jersey tomorrow night for a long weekend. We've done all of the typical tourist stuff like the Farmer's Market, Union Terrace, Monona Terrace, Olbrich Gardens, etc. So what do I do now? I want to show them something new. Any tips for me?

Ryan Paugh Queen Barrista at Barriques on West Washington just informed me that there will be a Foursquare special tomorrow (6/9). Something about 50% off...I didn't get the details, but I'm excited when anyone does anything w/ Foursquare in Madison. Just thought I'd let you guys know since I see many of you on my coffee breaks. The offer should be good at all Barriques locations. Damn...they should pay me for this :)

Ryan Paugh How many of you guys live in the Fitchburg area? I've recently realized how many young professionals are out that way. I live right behind the Great Dane on Fish Hatchery and I'd love to organize a happy hour with some Brazen peeps.

Leia Ferrari Hey everyone, I've been looking at Eating in Madison A to Z and found us a few good options. I'm not sure where you're all coming from, but I was thinking our first restaurant could be close to the UW campus since I'm car-less. Our options are Coreana on University, Hong Kong Cafe on Regent, and Maharani on West Wash. I'll post links on the forum and you can decide where we go. After that, we can choose a date and time! Also, please invite anyone & everyone you think would be interested!

Ryan Paugh: Leia, lets build this network up w/ some more members before we schedule a meet up. I have some ideas to help you. I'll send you a PM today.
