That said, I have a child with Aspergers and have had to teach him about "social" white lies ... you know, the things you think, and may be true ... but you just don't say! To me, that's the only time it's ok to lie .. when it might hurt someones feelings and is not necessary. Otherwise, my answer is never.

La Donna Lokey I just quoted a favorite passage of Atlas Shrugged, a book that helped to clarify and shape my work/life philosophy as a young adult. What books have influenced your work & life principles, or helped you to clarify your thoughts on your approach to life? (add Harold and the Purple Crayon to my list, also!)

I agree with Vickie, guest blog posts are really powerful.

I'd also research other books and authors within your vertical. In my experience, authors are always willing to help other authors. Then, crank out your keyword search skills and research which blogs/websites are ranking for "keyword + book + reviews." Make a list, come up with a pitch and go from there.

Do not be afraid to tap into your local market either for a little review/publicity help. That includes your alma mater, local newspapers, bookstores, etc. Sometimes, you can see a good boost in visibility/sales that way.

What disturbs me the most is that the employee was union and her former employer refused her assistance with her union delegate.....what were they hiding?

As for discussing professional business on Facebook, I agree that it's bad business unless you're talking about the company for the company on the company's Facebook page. I don't even like the idea of friending coworkers and bosses on that site - it takes away the separation of work and personal lives.

We as people, humans, never mind workers/employees, have every right to complain (around the water cooler or otherwise) about our work environment.

Companies have been given too much power, and the worker has been taught to "deal with it or get another job." Which is difficult in this, or any, economy.

I applaud her for speaking up about her boss. She has that right.

Kelly Seiler (for CA people) Do you get annoyed when people seem to think that California is some crazy liberal place where anything goes? Especially in San Diego where we have about a 50/50 split for Dems and Repubs. Recently someone visiting from out of town asked when walking by a hooka bar if it was "just hooka" uh wut? pot isn't legal everywhere. Or this article this morning http://bit.ly/cWs2xK one commenter's reaction was "It's amazing this is still an issue in California. It's legal in Oregon."

We were able to collect meaningful material that was able to lead us to conclusions, but there were a couple of keys that helped us. 1) Careful, meticulous wording of your survey. The better you know your audience, the closer you can tailor your verbage. 2) Flow, & building rapport. We wrote 5 versions of the same survey & with each re-write we improved the order of the questions to encourage the reader to trust us. The more trust you can garner the better and more honest your data will be. 3) Pretest, pretest, pretest. So many of the changes we made came from offering the survey to small groups of customers. Time & money may play a big role here, but the more you can do to pretest, the better the quality of your survey will be therefore providing more relevant results.

Dean,

I'm all game and would be more than happy to organize the event. Don't think we need to be catered, but it would be nice to have dinner together. Why don't we start by asking everyone 1) what day of the week they prefer, 2) what time, and 3) where would be most convenient? I am flexible on all three points, although I prefer a weekday rather than a weekend night.

Dean, Tera, Scott, Melissa, Jun, Kristina, Joseph, George, Lindsay, etc...your thoughts? Please post!
