Jim Armstrong Would love to hear your thoughts on my latest post, "Facebook is Losing its Focus." What a mess this platform has become - plain and simple. Not too long ago MySpace was the most visited web property in the US - now its owned by Specific Media. Facebook needs to tread carefully and learn from its forebears. Here's the link, thanks in advance--> http://bit.ly/wtxvuZ

These two companies do not have close competitors right now. With the emergence of Google+, Facebook just lost that advantage. Facebook now had to make a few moves to preserve it's secret sauce. Otherwise, it'll get "myspaced."

Hi Matthew,

Great insights here, I really appreciate your comment. I agree that if platforms do not innovate and re-tool, they too will be passed by just as MySpace was in the last few years. Thanks again Matthew!

Jim Armstrong Hi all, I hope you are enjoying a wonderful and relaxing holiday season. Seems like rather than winding down, December is ramping up. This month alone, three major social media platforms have announced significant improvements to their platforms. Here's the latest from Google +, YouTube and Twitter--> http://bit.ly/shhJzi

Jim Armstrong How active are you all on Google +? Yesterday Google + unveiled its long-awaited pages for businesses and brands. I believe in first-mover advantage and think Google + can be a nice arrow in a brand's digital assets. What do you think? Here's my take on the platform--> http://bit.ly/rHPRML

I don't see G+ as a viable option for many businesses yet. It's far too embryonic at this point and really has not taken off. Personally I think it's well on its way to becoming the biggest small niche social network out there.

Hi Keith,

I really appreciate your feedback here. I absolutely agree with most of the points Robert makes in his post. I actually mention these in my article as features that we don't like (single admin access and no third-party applications access to Google + like Tweetdeck & Hootsuite).

I do believe that these kinks will be worked out. The one point that Robert focuses on in his post is the single admin access - a feature that will become multiple admin access in due time. As the platform currently stands, I do believe it is incomplete and could even be inadequate for some businesses. With this being said, I do believe Google will take feedback like this, refine their product and turn Google + into a force to be reckoned with.

Thanks again Keith, really appreciate your feedback.

I can sort of envision use at a job fair, kind of like at SxSW, where announcements were made to the attendees, or where there could be contests/quizzes, and first respondent gets a prize (or an interview!). How about in your respective fields, is there an application?
