Anastasia Magnitskaia When it comes to job searching, what are the rules of applying to 2 different jobs within the same company? I had an interview last week, have not heard back on whether I made to the second round. I just saw another position open within the same company. What are your thoughts?

2 weeks ago from Job Resources and Career Coaching

Christopher Walker: There are no rules against that. If you are interested in the position then apply for it.

TOP IDEA: Dana Leavy I read a lot about personal branding because it's such an important area for job seekers to understand. If you're thinking about making a career change then your personal brand is really the strongest tool in your job search arsenal. Here are some tips on how having a strong personal brand can help you get around the same old resume song & dance, kick your search into high gear… and how to do it right. http://www.moneycrashers.com/building-personal-brand-career-change/

I have said that I hope to be in a productive stable job where I can learn and grow. Not sure if that's a good answer, though.

Suzanne Kaplan I'm an unemployed high school English teacher looking for new opportunities. I'm interested in the intersection of the nonprofit and education world... Does anyone have any advice for how to re-brand oneself? The bulk of my professional experience comes from teaching high school (all grades, college prep, honors, and AP). However, I'm expanding my skill set through volunteer work, workshops, and classes with focus on fundraising and using social media for marketing organizations. Thoughts?

I've worked with teachers for over ten years. Education non-profits will want to know that you know the education industry, can manage projects, and analyze data. You can demonstrate that through blogging and social media for sure. Teachers also have a great advantage in that employers know you're resilient because high school teaching is hard work.

Keith Marshak Does anyone have any good resume writer-reviewer-editor recommendations they care to share? Clay Forsberg With the incredible amount of professional opportunity in high-tech jobs .. where are the women? The top technical companies in the country have to look overseas for talent, because it’s not available within the borders. This situation is compounded by the fact that only 13% of tech programming employment is female. Let’s throw out some ideas.

Dana Leavy One of the mistakes I constantly hear jobseekers committing is going into an interview and focusing on why they want to work for Company X - they're cool, innovative, cutting edge, etc.. What a hiring manager wants to know is, what you can bring to the table and what's unique about you that really makes you the best fit for the role! Some more thoughts on why having a solid grasp on your 'personal brand' can make (or break) the job interview. http://tinyurl.com/63ol9lr
