INTP Yet Brazen

Seek to develop logical explanations for everything that interests them. Theoretical and abstract, interested more in ideas than in social interaction. Quiet, contained, flexible, and adaptable. Have unusual ability to focus in depth to solve problems in their area of interest. Skeptical, sometimes critical, always analytical.

Kieasha Adams I am in the process of pursuing a network marketing business, but I am concerned about how my personality type will affect my performance. It seems like many of the required ideal traits are also my weaknesses. Some examples are being extremely social, sticking to schedules, exhibiting lots of enthusiasm and emotion, and staying motivated. If there are any other INTPs that are in network marketing, I would love to know how you manage?

Danielle Gream Hello, all! I'm new to Brazen Careerist but I wanted to share a new blog with everyone. www.ShyMarketingSecrets.com has a lot a great information for us introverts on marketing and public relations. There's also a link to a helpful book entitled "You Want Me to What? Public Relations and Marketing for the Shy Person." It's full of tips and techniques that will change the way you market yourself and your business. Hope this helps! Glad to be part of this group!

Justin Loutsch I read a great book about introverts, lots of surprising facts (more than half of Americans are introverts, we're just ashamed to admit it!) and how you can make these qualities work to your advantage.

Andrew Hedges I posted this to the personal branding network as well, so apologies for the x-post, but I think it applies here as well. I'm an INTP and recently wrote a blog post about personal branding for introverts. I'd love to hear what you think! http://andrew.hedges.name/blog/2009/11/18/personal-branding-for-introverts

Alan Koskelin How can an INTP sell themselves as "the architect of ideas and systems [and] edifices"? Too often that's heard as "won't get anything done."

If you help companies by being an "architect of ideas" you should have examples of projects you've worked on. If you're an entrepreneur trying to sell your architect services you should have customer referrals and case studies of how you created value. Once you have that there shouldn't be any worries that you won't get anything done.

Monica Carol Evans: Tell them that you are the idea guy and you work well with an implementation team. :-)

TOP IDEA: Andrew Shell Can INTPs be entrepreneurs? Do we think too much without enough action? Do we need a partner to make it happen?

Someone to handle the day-to-day business and probably be the face of the company. My comfort lies in being the 'thinker' and thinking up new solutions to problems. I don't know how many domain names I've bought only for them to go unused. I get the idea, then I just fall out of love with it. For instance, I'd like to start a tech blog, but didn't feel like I could come up with enough regular content for it to be worthwhile. So I dropped it.

Andrew Shell: I know what you mean about collecting unused domain names. I also fall out of love with ideas and ditch them. I don't think this is a bad thing though, in many cases I gave up the idea because I realized it was just a bad idea.

TOP IDEA: Andrew Shell "In wanting to understand his reactions to things, he may treat himself, even his own thoughts, as subjects for experiment."

Bill Denneen If ever a group name called to me, this is it!

Jay Hepner: Hearing you, Bill. Even though, as mentioned I'm "officially" INFP. I'm a feeling thinker. Or is that a thinking feeler?

Rhett Garber Ever been accused of being too critical, yet you thought you were just being helpful ?

137 weeks ago from INTP Yet Brazen

Monica Carol Evans: Too critical, too judgmental whatever you call it, sometimes I think we want to "fix" stuff when others want us to just listen.
Jay Hepner: Absolu! When you have knowledge, you want to share. but many seem to think you're showing off. No, contributing.

Jay Hepner Hi! Just a wordup here: Was assessed as INFP 'bout 20 years pasado, but have been known to overthink anything. And be brazen, too.

Monica Carol Evans Does anyone else find it hard to do "small talk". I can have really deep conversations, but I hate small talk. How do you cope?

138 weeks ago from INTP Yet Brazen

Monica Carol Evans: Nope, b/c I'm often anticipating what the other person is going to say & I'm thinking about what I'm going to say.
JR Moreau: Monica, I feel you on that. I often get excited and want to add my two cents! However I do my best to listen more than talk sometimes

JR Moreau When you feel like being alone and concentrating, do you go to the park or a crowded coffee shop where you don't know anybody?

141 weeks ago from INTP Yet Brazen

Rhett Garber: This is a hard question. Sometimes a crowd seems more comfortable because I feel I can just blend in. Parks are rarely quite private enough.

JR Moreau Quiet, contained and flexible. Not exactly the type of people you want to start a discussion ;-) I'll start!
